How To Cut These Images On My Cricut?

Uploading Your Floral SVG, PNG Files To Cricut Design Space.

Click on upload image and select browse.

Choose your Floral Letter PNG of SVG files, SVGs upload easier than PNGS which need a few extra steps, but in the grand scheme of things still take no time at all. This image below is my Birthday Alphabet but the principle is the same.

How to upload to Cricut Design Space

You will be brought to a window with options, select complex file, then continue. The next window allows you the take the back of your file, but I have done this for you.

When you reach the save screen click save as a cut and continue. Do this one by one until you have all of your chosen letters and numbers. Once this is done, you can select all the letters you have uploaded and pull onto your mat in one go.

Cutting You Floral Alphabet

When you’ve chosen the floral PNG Alphabet letters to cut, send to your Cricut. Ensure you use your brayer to roll the paper, vinyl or card to adhere to the mat and remove any bubbles or creases.

When your Cricut has finished cutting, discard the outer area of the paper/ vinyl this pulls away easily.

Now lift a corner of your letter with tweezers, the letter will then lift away in one piece.Use the weeding tool to remove any areas that need gently weeding and removing.

Key Problems When Designing Or Cutting A Paper Cut Or Vinyl Decal On A Cricut Machine

Making The Paper Cut Or Vinyl Decal To Complicated

Its ok to go for detail if you are cutting your image larger. However for smaller cuts ensure the detail is not too difficult to cut, or indeed weed.

Not Connecting The Image Correctly

To build your image use the group tool this is easy to undo. Once you are happy with your cut weld it together. Ensure your image is fully connected, or you may lose part of it in the cut.

Your Cutting Mat Not Being Sticky Enough

If your cutting mat has debris on it, or has lost its stick then your card could come unstuck or slide part way through your cut. There are some useful suggestions here on how to re-stick your mat.

Smart vinyl is a great option for making vinyl decals on the Cricut Joy, check out how I made a large vinyl wall decal with the Cricut Joy.

Card Stock Being To Thick

The thicker the card stock the harder it is to cut a clean image. I find working on a thinner grade card works so much better, even thicker paper. However if you want to work with a thicker card I set my material as foil poster board and my pressure on more for a cleaner cut. This also makes it easier to weed.

Debris On Your Cutting Blade

If your blade is blunt or has debris on it then it will not cut cleanly, check your blade before cutting.

  1. Am very new to cricut but would love to get into it. Love your blog and the Alphabet. Followed the link to save into design space but keeps coming up as a page of illegible letters and numbers. Any advice greatly appreciated.

  2. Love these letters! Followed your circut design space link in both the comment above and the post but when design space opened it says “contains exclusive content” and the make it button is greyed out 🙁 Do I have to have a design space subscription to be able to click “make it”? Saving the images worked but trying to remove the background in design space prior to uploading made them less than sharp… any help you can provide would be most appreciated! Thanks!

  3. Hello Sarah,
My letters look grainy in the Cricut Design Space. I want to cut the letters out of paper/vinyl. Will they look clearer once the letters are cut out?
    Thank you

    • Hi Sandra, it shouldn’t make a difference, maybe try one letter and see how it goes but it should be ok? Try changing the colour to black, but they have always cut fine for me. Any problems please do let me know and I will try to solve it. x

  7. Is there any way to make these letters smaller? I need them to be about an inch smaller and cannot figure out how to do it. I am new to Cricut so if my question appears dumb, please don’t hold it against me.

    • Hi Ruth if you click on the image then click on the arrow on the bottom right corner, what are you cutting the images on, this might me a bit small on card stick, but let me know how you get on. However it will be fine on vinyl, that seems to cut better for smaller projects. x

    • Hi Lisa, do you have a Cricut, if so you can change them to printable images and add paterns to the letters, or yes you could just download and add to pic monkey and canvas and print them x

  10. Hi Sarah

Just wanted to say thank you for your generosity in creating and sharing these files/images. My husband bought me a Cricut for my birthday and, to be honest, I felt a bit lost and overwhelmed by it. I’ve just used your floral alphabet to cut a large monogram, which I’m giving to a good friend for her birthday (planning on framing it). It’s absolutely stunning and I think she’ll love it.
    Thanks again
    Kate (UK)
