What You Will Find Here
But First A Little About The Humble Christmas Tree
The modern Christmas tree is believed to have originated from western Germany. It was used as a prop of a popular medieval play about Adam and Eve called a paradise tree. This was simply a fir tree decorated with apples, that represented the tree in the Garden of Eden.
Germans loved the idea and set up a paradise tree’s in their homes on December 24, to celebrate the the religious feast day of Adam and Eve.
There is debate on when the first Christmas Tree came to the UK, many believing King George III and his wife Charlotte had a Christmas tree in the 1790s
Although Victoria and Albert did make them much more popular in 1840 when they decorated a Christmas tree at Windsor Castle. Here they would decorate the tree themselves with their family, thus this became a family tradition for many families.

How To Make A Christmas Tree Decoration
What Will You Need?
- Acrylic Bauble, I made mine on my Glowforge.
- White Vinyl For The Tree Words
- Rose Gold Vinyl For The Back, This needs to have a coloured back, not silver or white.
- Twine or ribbon
- Cricut Transfer Tape
- Weeding Tool And Scraper
Upload Your Image To Design Space And Size It
Upload your chosen Christmas Tree SVG to Cricut Design Space and size the image. To do this place your bauble blank onto your Cricut Mat to measure, turn on the grid in design space and you can now get an idea of where your tree will fit onto the bauble.
If you want a splash of colour on the back? Search paint in Cricut Design Space images and lots of options come up. You will want to size this to fit onto the back of your bauble disk.
Cutting Your Christmas Tree SVG Files On Cricut
When you send your Christmas Tree files to your Cricut to cut, ensure you use your brayer to roll the vinyl to adhere to the mat. Movement will affect the cut.
When your Cricut has finished cutting, flip the mat over and reverse weed, I find this works better as you are able to bend the mat slightly and gently peel the vinyl away.
Weed Your Christmas Tree SVG Use Transfer Tape To Lift Your Image
This is where you need patience, weed your design making sure you weed out the centre of letters and words. Now use transfer tape to lift the image off the backing paper.
I find just sticking the transfer paper to my trousers or jeans first makes it a little less sticky. This is more beneficial when transferring your image to your bauble.
Transfer Your Image Onto The Acrylic Bauble
Pop the tree image onto the front of the bauble and use you scraper to rub it so it attaches to the acrylic sheets. Repeat this on the back to which your paint splodge. Now peel off the transfer tape, I find peeling it directly back rather than up give a better result.
Now thread with twine and you have a beautiful bespoke Christmas Tree Decoration.
