3rd April 2020 by SarahJChristie 26 Comments

These free Cricut floral alphabet templates for paper cuts and vinyl decals are a great resource for so many Cricut crafting projects. Not only do they make stunning, simple to weed paper cuts. But can also be used on other projects such as the tray I created below with permanent vinyl and also larger wall decals for bedroom walls or welcome signs. Also check out my latest Christmas Crafts and Alphabets.

How To Make Your Floral Alphabet Templates On Cricut

I have created a free set of the whole paper cut alphabet with instructions HERE ON HOW TO ADD YOUR OWN IMAGES TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE.

However if you want to create and design your very own paper cuts or vinyl decals there is a Paper Cut Tutorial Here. They are very simple to design, but I found the first few were trial and error.

Key Problems When Designing Or Cutting A Paper Cut Or Vinyl Decal On A Cricut Machine

Making The Paper Cut Or Vinyl Decal To Complicated

Its ok to go for detail if you are cutting your image larger. However for smaller cuts ensure the detail is not too difficult to cut, or indeed weed.

Not Connecting The Image Correctly

To build your image use the group tool this is easy to undo. Once you are happy with your cut weld it together. Ensure your image is fully connected, or you may lose part of it in the cut.

Your Cutting Mat Not Being Sticky Enough

If your cutting mat has debris on it, or has lost its stick then your card could come unstuck or slide part way through your cut. There are some useful suggestions here on how to re-stick your mat.

Smart vinyl is a great option for making vinyl decals on the Cricut Joy, check out how I made a large vinyl wall decal with the Cricut Joy.

Card Stock Being To Thick

The thicker the card stock the harder it is to cut a clean image. I find working on a thinner grade card works so much better, even thicker paper. However if you want to work with a thicker card I set my material as foil poster board and my pressure on more for a cleaner cut. This also makes it easier to weed.

Debris On Your Cutting Blade

If your blade is blunt or has debris on it then it will not cut cleanly, check your blade before cutting.

Can I Cut These Paper Cuts On The Cricut Joy?

Yes the images I have on this page in card and vinyl were all cut on the Cricut Joy, you can drag and enlarge them to make any image.

Other Uses For My Free Floral Alphabet Templates

It’s wonderful for making paper cuts and sliced into banners for hanging banners. (Although some of the images will need connecting once sliced, I will create a post on this soon)

However can also be used for cutting vinyl. I found the letter was easier to weed on vinyl. I was also able to cut the vinyl letters much smaller than I would have been able to on card, yet the cut was still sharp.

How To Cut These Images On My Cricut?

If you have design space access then open this link on Cricut Design Space and save the project.

If you’re a subscriber, head to the members area and the file is there waiting for you. Simply search your inbox for Extraordinary Chaos and you will find the email. (Failing that check your spam folder)

Or click on the image below and I will pop the set across to you. Make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off and if the email doesn’t land, again check your spam folder. Here’s how you upload the files to Cricut Design Space.

Hi Deb ah thanks, the link should take you to the project to customise https://design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/5e8727d961d0230b68cb2e7b, do you have design space access? If not them follow these instructions but you need to right click and save the image first https://extraordinarychaos.com/2019/11/how-to-cut-my-own-images-in-cricut-design-space.html hope that helps, I just tried it and was able to do both hope that helps, obviously have design space access make it so much easier but the other was is possible too xx

Love these letters! Followed your circut design space link in both the comment above and the post but when design space opened it says “contains exclusive content” and the make it button is greyed out 🙁 Do I have to have a design space subscription to be able to click “make it”? Saving the images worked but trying to remove the background in design space prior to uploading made them less than sharp… any help you can provide would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Jane yes you need design space access to access the letters however I have just added a letter to design space and removed the background and it worked perfectly, did you follow the instruction in the post to remove backgrounds? https://extraordinarychaos.com/2019/11/how-to-cut-my-own-images-in-cricut-design-space.html hope that helps x

      Hello Sarah,
My letters look grainy in the Cricut Design Space. I want to cut the letters out of paper/vinyl. Will they look clearer once the letters are cut out?
      Thank you

Hi Sandra, it shouldn’t make a difference, maybe try one letter and see how it goes but it should be ok? Try changing the colour to black, but they have always cut fine for me. Any problems please do let me know and I will try to solve it. x

Love your work but how do I download the files? I don’t see a download button on your post and I don’t see them in DS. I’m using an iPad for all my Cricut crafting. Thanks
