Having the chance to potter and craft is one of my favourite ways to spend my time. So making a Unicorn Paper Cut With The Cricut Maker and immersing myself in all things sparkly and pink makes me a tad giddy. If you are a fan of pottering and quick craft check out what the Cricut Joy can do.
I knew I wanted to make a pretty paper cut for a very special pink loving little lady. And lets face it if you are going pink you may as well go the whole hog and go unicorn?
The thing is, although there are some lovely designs for sale on the Cricut Design Space I do have this annoying tendency to want to master a projects myself. And yay I did it, but if I made it again there are a few changes I would make. However overall I am thrilled with my first attempt at making this paper cut. This unicorn paper cut tutorial will help you step by step.

How to make a Unicorn Paper Cut with the Cricut Maker
I have made a step-by-step vlog for this simple paper cutting design below. To make this unicorn from scratch you will need 5 components and a square, which will be your template.
This paper cut is made by slicing images and image outlines onto you square template to create your image and final cut. I have added a few tips below but you need to see the vlog for this to all make sense.
To create a unicorn design you will need
A unicorn horn, I searched the images I have access to in the Cricut design space, and chose a set of shells. I was able to ungroup and slice the outline of the shell into my card. (See video for slicing outlines instruction)
Flowers, you need to decide if you are cutting out the whole flower or leaf, or want to slice it to create a pop out flower. I chose to use a combination of both
Ears, the bunny ears image in design space can be sliced to create one ear outline. I then mirrored and flipped the image for the other ear.
Eye lashes, I cut a sliced a pair of eyes to create my unicorn eyes.

Tips for cutting your unicorn paper cut
I was using card stock so chose and medium card stock setting but with added pressure cutting for a cleaner cut.
Ensure you roll (with the Cricut roller) your card onto the matt so it is secure.
When the cut has finished bend the matt first to loosen the card then gradually weed with you weeding tool.
Use a bright pad to weed it, the flowers are tricky to weed.
When bending the edges of the flowers do not over-bend, as it will cause creases.
If you want to keep some of the flowers you intended to weed out, leave one or two petals attached and bend the rest to create the flower pop effect.
Really think about the outlines you use, the larger flowers in my project were actually not attached, I was able to stick them but next time I would think more about this.
Stick to your choice of metallic card stock with double-sided sticky tape along with the centres of any letters.
Display in a deep frame to prevent squashing your design.
