How To Make A Layered Candy Easter Chick Candy Holder

Start by uploading your Easter Chick SVG files to Cricut Design Space. You should have 5 layers.

  1. Top Layer, I used white glitter card but removed the eye and beak offset.
  2. Yellow floral layer
  3. Yellow circle, this should be slightly larger than the centre of the circle on the floral layer so it sits behind
  4. Back orange layer (Also cut the beak in orange)
  5. Eyes, remove the contours from layer one and cut on scrap card.

Measure your bauble and size the circle for the centre of the yellow layer in Cricut Design Space as a guide the same size. This is your guide, now, size your floral Easter Chick layer so your circle fits perfectly inside. The aim is that the candy bauble will go inside the tummy of the chick, your yellow circle wants to be slightly bigger than this so it fits behind.

Size the top and back layer so it is the same size than the floral layer. When you are happy, discard the circle template and send the project to cut. But keep the yellow circle, which should be slightly bigger.

Building Your Layered SVG

When your project is cut, line up all layers to check they align correctly and start by filling the bauble with candy, then add superglue around the edge of the card circle cut out and pop on top of the bauble, keep to the edges so the glue doesn’t leak into the sweets and allow the glue to dry. I left it an hour before the next step.

Pop the smarties into the bauble

Now attach the floral layer over the top of the bauble so the rim of the bauble layer fits to the back. now you can add the back orange later and top white layer.

Lastly, add your eyes and beak, popping two dots onto the beak to finish it off.
