I have a few slimming world curry’s floating about on the blog, all ever so slightly different, but all with one theme; they are super delicious low fat and slimming world friendly. However, today I am sharing how to make an Easy, Creamy, Slimming World Curry Sauce Indian Base Recipe because I genuinely believe that if you have a great base sauce, you can put it with many different ingredients to make an incredible curry.
How to Make an Easy Slimming World Indian Creamy Curry Sauce
Slimming World Creamy Curry Sauce Recipe
You Will Need….
- 1 large chopped onion
- 1 small cup of chicken stock
- 3 chopped garlic cloves or a squirt of garlic paste
- 400g tin of chopped tomatoes, mashed
- tsp salt
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp coriander ( or a handful of fresh coriander)
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- ½ tsp cumin
- 1/3 tsp chilli powder
- 3 sprays of Fry Light
- Fresh chopped coriander to garnish
- Pomegranate seeds to garnish
- 1 large spoon full of 0% fat greek yoghurt
How To Make A Slimming World Low Fat Creamy Curry Sauce
- Heat the fry light in a large pan.
- Add the chopped onions, garlic, spices, salt and pepper.
- Cook the onions for a couple of minutes until they become translucent.
- Then stir in the mashed tomatoes and stock and simmer.
- If you are using fresh coriander, could you add it now?
- Add the lemon juice.
- Cook over low heat, around no 6, for 15 minutes until the sauce is thoroughly cooked down.
- If you add meat to the sauce, brown it off before adding it and adjust your cooking time accordingly.
- This is the time to add yoghurt if you want your sauce milder and creamier. However, this step is optional.
- Serve with rice and garnish with coriander and pomegranate seeds.

If you like your Indian curry sauce to be smooth blend before adding meat or vegetables. Also add
- Chicken
- Beef
- Turkey
- Pork
- Or Lamb for a meaty curry.
Alternatively, if you prefer vegetables add…
- Cauliflower
- Lentils
- Peppers
- Sweet potatoes
- Butternut squash will all be great additions to this slimming world recipe.
- Additionally for a sweet kick add raisins.
Yes, I make batches of the sauce and freeze it in meals size portions. This can be frozen for up to 2 months.
For a milder version, leave out the chilli powder and add some Greek Yoghurt.
In contrast, add extra chill power to the pan for a hotter version. Or chilli sauce when it’s on the plate for houses with split tastes on curry heat.
You can make a larger batch of this curry sauce and freeze it in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
Homemade curry sauce can be served with rice, naan bread, or any other type of bread. You can also serve it with vegetables or meat of your choice.
Yes, you can use any curry powder you prefer, but remember that the flavour may differ slightly from the recipe.
Leftover curry sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Ingredients

- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp coriander ( or a handful of fresh coriander)
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- ½ tsp cumin
- 1/3 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tbsp oil
- Fresh chopped coriander to garnish
- Pomegranate seeds to garnish
- 1 large spoon full of 0% fat greek yoghurt
Instructions
Heat the oil in a large pan.
Add the chopped onions, garlic, spices, salt and pepper.
Cook the onions for a couple of minutes until they become translucent
Then stir in the mashed tomatoes and stock and simmer
If you are using fresh coriander add it in now.
Add the lemon juice
Cook over a low heat around no 6 for 15 minutes until the sauce is throughly cooked down.
If you are adding any meat to the sauce brown it off first before adding and adjust your cooking time accordingly.
Serve with rice and garnish with coriander and pomegranate seeds.

Where does the Greek yoghurt come into the recipe?
To cool it down, I like my curry a bit milder but hubby likes it hotter so I add to make it a little creamier
