Why Staycations Are Set To Be With Us For A While
The recent debacle with tourists returning from Spain should demonstrate that, while it’s now possible to visit other countries, there are no guarantees. Many holidaymakers have already decided to write off their travel plans for the year and switch to domestic travel instead.
Why Choose A Staycation?
While it’s easy to look at the staycation as a no-frills alternative to a fancier overseas adventure, there are certainly upsides to holidaying within the UK.
To begin with, the environmental cost is far lower. At the height of the global restrictions, pollution and emissions slumped markedly. Those with concerns about the state of the natural world might therefore elect to avoid air travel.
Second, a staycation tends to be far cheaper. This may allow families to put extra money towards a bigger trip in 2021, or to simply invest in their more immediate priorities. Given the economic impact of the virus, the staycation might be looked at as a money-saving measure.
Finally, the UK is home to an enormous range of destinations that many of us simply aren’t acquainted with. A staycation might therefore be a chance to remind ourselves that just because something is nearby doesn’t mean that it isn’t worth visiting!
Where To Take A Staycation
The UK’s national parks and seaside resorts will be given extra consideration. Take a trip down to Hastings and you can enjoy a combination of historical interest and seaside adventures that’ll please just about everyone in the family. On the other hand, you might elect to head in the other direction, and visit the highlands of Scotland, or the Peak District.
A walking holiday in the countryside has the considerable advantage of having social distancing built-in; you won’t need to bother with a mask when you’re miles away from the nearest other person, and this is sure to be especially so during autumn and winter, when fewer tourists will make their way to this part of the country.
Whether it’s a summer or winter trip, there is so much to see and do in the UK including city breaks and countryside trips, there are endless opportunities for families.
