Blackpool’s Grand Theatre has to be one of my favourite’s in the North and their wonderful version of the Sleeping Beauty Pantomime is up there with the best.

The Christmas season is upon us and who doesn’t want to shout he’s behind you and Sleeping Beauty has it all. The super engaged audience loved all the comedy, along of course with the obligatory villain’s and hero’s that truly made the Sleeping Beauty Pantomime leaving you wanting more.

The Sleeping Beauty Pantomime, At The Grand Theatre Blackpool

Silly Billy (Steve Royle) was hilarious and had the audience howling with laughter! Nanny Nellie (Philip Meeks) was brilliant, we all love a pantomime Dame. Her slapstick comedy and topical humour was every bit what Panto is about.

Additionally, the children from the local Theatre Arts Centre played their parts brilliantly a very talented group of dancers.

Hayley Tamaddon star of TV and much more, who was born in Blackpool opens the show as the Good Fairy. Flying onto the stage, looking every bit the fairy godmother and who will go on to save the day, or will she? The Princess Rose can only be awoken by a true love’s kiss, will her Prince save her?

What Is Sleeping Beauty About?

The beautiful Princess Rose touches the spinning wheel on her 18th birthday, but the wheel has been cursed by the evil Carabosse and she falls asleep. Can the Good Fairy break the spell? You will have to go and see for yourselves!

The Audience Had So Much Fun

It was a very mixed audience of children and adults, and we were also lucky enough to join in with all the fun that makes pantomime so joyful. There was never a dull moment, we were too busy participating, booing, clapping, laughing and having the best time.

The whole production was made up of colourful sets, extravagant costumes, slapstick comedy, creative cast, a live band. Plus not to mention the audience participation that made this great British Pantomime a huge hit. I am sure the beautiful Grand Theatre will be full to the rafters every night.

A show that brings pure festive joy, everyone left the theatre feeling upbeat and happy.

You can see Sleeping Beauty at the Blackpool Grand until 1st Jan 2023 and tickets start from £22.

Please note we were gifted these tickets in return for an honest review, and you can argue with a bit of good old fashioned festive fun. Also so much to the amazing Pauline for her fab review.
