Sometimes you have a family meal that is everyones favourite and this easy corned beef hash recipe is THAT meal. I learnt this family favourite from Chris’s Grandma, she was the best cook ever! Why Is Corned Beef Hash The Perfect Midweek Meal?
This corned beef hash recipe is a put it all in the pot and crack on with homework kinda meal, which really is my favourite during the week easy meal.
Ok, it takes a while to cook but is very low maintenance. However you can make corned beef hash in batches and freeze for a super quick meal on those nights where there is no time, nights such as parents evenings, clubs and presentations.
Easy Corned Beef Hash Recipe
To Feed 6 You Will Need:
1 tin of corned beef
1.25kg of potatoes
2-3 tsps of gravy granules ( avoid stock cubes they are to salty)
Pepper to season
1 tsp if Worcester sauce. (optional)
300g shortcrust pastry. ( If you are not a fan of making pasty buy a 320g ready roll pack)
1 egg
Method:
Firstly Peel, and chop the potatoes into small chunks.
Put in a pan and just cover with boiling water, you only want enough for the potatoes to absorb, you wont be draining the water afterwards.
Chop the corned beef into small chunks.
After 15 minute add the corned beef to the potatoes and mix well.
Give it another 5 minutes before adding the gravy granules, Worcester sauce and seasoning with pepper.
Now transfer the mixture into a glass baking dish, the mixture should be quite wet and that’s fine as it will reduce in the oven. At this point if you feel it needs a little more liquid pour in some gravy.
Top with pastry making air vents for steam and do an egg wash on the top of the pastry to glaze it.
Cook in the oven on 180° for 30-40 minutes until its golden brown.
Serve with mushy peas and homemade pickled red cabbage.
How Do You Know When Your Corned Beef Hash Is Done?
Your pastry will be golden brown and additionally you will be able to put a knife through and the potato will be soft.
Can You Freeze Corned Beef Hash?
Yes I freeze in meal size batches without the pastry and add the pastry once its defrosted. Although you can add the pastry and freeze before cooking.

We love corned beef has, we had it yesterday for tea. I cooked mine in the slow cooker and added beans to it. I put some in the freezer which I might be getting back out soon to make a pie out of it x
