The Best Curly Girl Method Uk Products

Share

I dip in and out of Curly Girl, however spent 1 year following it religiously. The one challenge I found was finding Curly Girl Method Products Uk that suited my hair. I think when you have blonde hair on the Curly Girl Method it makes it that little bit harder. However these are the products that did not make my blonde appear dull, and so many did.

This list is created from trial and error, from me using the curly girl products on my blonde hair. However they are also proven on non porous hair and recommended by many. What I am here to say, is yes, they are also great on blonde hair.

If you want to see me create my projects, follow me on Tik Tok and Instagram.

Many of the below products are available online of in a chemist such as Boots and Superdrug, thus you do not need to spend a fortune to follow the Curls Girl Method.

However there are also some luxury hair products. Being a hairdresser I really struggle with the whole chemist/ professional debate and do feel better quality products are an investment. The key is finding curly girl hair products that suit you, and are in your budget.

If you are not sure how to find out which products are curly girl friendly read out my Where To Start On On The Curly Girl Method Post.

The Best Curly Girl Method Uk Products

Here is my list of a few of the products I have found, tried and tested. And if you are a blonde curly you will feel my pain, as sometimes the whole community is praising a certain product, yet I find it’s not for me. So this is what I have tried on my curly girl journey and what had worked.

Cantu Shea Butter

These are packed with moisture for when you hair is feeling extra dry. Yet it’s also great on thick hair, and perfect for packing the hair with moisture. These products are very rich, thus perfect for extra dry hair and approved curly girl UK products.

Cantu Define and Shine Custard Is The Best Uk Curly Girl Hair Gel I Have Used

Styling with the Define and Shine custard gives a fantastic curl result. Top tip, the curling custard feels crispy when you first use it, work through that and the results are amazing it produces big bouncy curls that last, this is a great product on my hair. Define and Shine Custard is priced between £5.49 and £7.99 and can be found in-store at Superdrug and online at Amazon.

Christophe Robin Cleansing Mask With Lemon

Is a NoPoo detergent free cleanser

Perfect for the days you want to cleans and moisturizer rather than clarify the hair. It’s light and makes and makes the hair feel lightly cleansed without stripping it. And costs £39 pounds from SpaceNK but is very concentrated so will last ages.

Noughty Wave Hello Range

My favourite Curly Girl UK Leave In Conditioner.

Noughty is great, especially if you are following the Curly Girl Method on a budget.

These are super light products, which are great for finer hair, yet also fantastic if your hair is porous. They make your hair feel really bouncy, I adore the leave in conditioner. It’s also a great product for refreshing. All of the Noughty Products below are prices £6.99 and are available at Superdrug or alternatively Amazon. To read the full review CLICK HERE

Shea Moisture Curl And Shine Range

Is all available in Superdrug around the £10, £11 pounds mark. They smell divine and are also great on dry porous hair. You need to really scrunch the conditioner in but the results are great and it’s not too heavy.

Tropic Nourishing Hair Wash, Hair Feast And Scalp massager

I had been using Tropic hair products for a couple of months prior to starting to follow the Curly Girl method and love these products; they are conditioning and rich but not over heavy.

So was thrilled to find these were CG friendly. They cost £18 each but as they are concentrated and you only need to use a tiny bit, the products last ages.

The beauty of Tropic products is that they are not tested on animals and all of the ingredients are natural.

The Best Curly Girl Method Uk Products, Only Curls Styling Creme Gel And Leave In Conditioner

Only Curls Styling Creme Gel and leave in conditioner are also great for coloured hair. They give a light feel to the hair but with great hold. The products sit around the £7 mark so are affordable, light and smell great.

The styling cream is a lighter cream, yet still gives a soft curl effect, it feels gentle on the hair and almost weightless.

Hope that helps, but remember when you are following the curly girl method, do what works for you. Its all about trial and error.

  1. Hi
I am just strating out on this adventure!
Please can you tell me what Ishould do when I go for a haircut.
Should I take my own products with me?
Also I have my roots done every few weeks just to darken the roots and cover the grey.
Are there special hair colouring products i should use?
Are any of them suitable for home use?
Just looking for a bit of guidance from an experienced user!!
    Thanks
    Regards
    Eleanor

    • Hi Eleanor I would ring the salon and find out if they are familiar with curly girl, maybe find a salon who is, they should then have curly girl friendly products. I would definitely still have your hair coloured professionally, it generally doesn’t take too long to settle and by your next wash it will be fine. Hope that helps x

Also – do you use any product/spray on your hair while it is drying?
I have been using a blow dry spray but not blow drying any more, but is there something I can put on to tame those wispy ends when and if it is being diffused?
Looking forawrd to trying it all out!
It’s taken me 70 years to discover this!
    Regards

    • Hi Eleanor I am not following curly girl any longer, but when I did I used the Cantu curling cream which I loved, it dries a bit crunchy but scrunches out easily leaving lovely soft curls, also have you seen my friend Donna’s site Like Love Do she has lots of curly girl content on xx
