Cooking home made meals that feel like eating out seems to be the way to our boys hearts. They almost forget because it home made its also healthy and the fact that we can also cook the chicken burgers on the BBQ on a sunny day is always a winner.
How To Make An Authentic Tasting Nando’s Grilled Chicken Burger At Home.
You Will Need…
- 4 chicken breasts
- Nando’s Peri Peri Rub ( Can be found in most supermarkets)
- 4 brioche buns
- 1 onion
- 8 slices of low fat cheddar cheese
- Gem Lettuce
- 2 beef tomatoes
- 1 tbsp low fat mayonnaise
How To Make A Home Made Nando’s Grilled Chicken Burger
Cut any visible fat or gristle off the chicken breasts, then batter with a rolling pin. This breaks the tissue down and flattens the chicken.
Put the Nando’s peri peri rub into a bowl.
Cut each chicken breast in half before using tongs to coat your chicken breast in the Nando’s peri peri rub ensuring you thoroughly coat each chicken breast.
Slice the onion and fry it with low fat spray adding a little water to soften and sauté
Place in the grill on high and grill your chicken for around 20 minute turning at intervals, ensuring they are thoroughly cooked. Once cooked lay the sliced cheese on top of half the chicken pieces to melt.
In the meantime wash and slice the tomatoes and lettuce. Also slice and grill the brioche buns on both side.
Now build your Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken Burger double layering your chicken with one peiece of chicken with cheese and one witohut to create a chunky double layered Nando’s styel burger.

You are also able to cook in the oven or BBQ you Nando’s Chicken Burgers.
- To cook in the oven, cook on 180°c for 20 minutes.
- For BBQ cook for 15-20 minutes turning occasionally until thoroughly cooked.
Can You Freeze These Peri Peri Nando’s Chicken Burgers?
Yes as long as the chicken is not frozen, but the coating may go a bit sticky and soggy when defrosting. For this reason I recommend to make from fresh.
However if you are preparing for a BBQ it is possible to prepare 24 hours before and store in the fridge in an airtight container.
