Styling My Work Area

6th January 2016 by SarahJChristie 24 Comments

If you had seen my work area in my previous job you would have rolled your eyes. It was terrible, no organisation at all. To me it was an organised mess, to the untrained eye it was nothing short of a tip. My workload, plans and inspirations all jumbled together in one huge heap. To get to the actual surface I would have to sweep the pile to one side.

Styling My Work Area

I remember one year my work diary went missing, I accused everybody that came into the staff room of moving it, but to my shame when I cleaned my desk at the end of the year said dairy resurfaced. Now I am not totally convinced it was not planted back at the end of the year, and this is what I told my colleagues. But deep down I knew it had been swallowed down in the deepest depths of my organised mess. Every now and then someone would get sick of it and tidy it for me, and I actually didn’t mind that at all, in fact I quite liked it.

But something has happened since I have been working from my own work area at home, I have become organised, tidy. Now of course a huge factor is that my desk in the lounge, and I like our home to be spotless. Chris and I spent hours lovingly restoring this desk, it s in fact my pride and joy.  I feel I have my own little space to create, it feels tranquil and calm. Not an environment I ever feel stressed, or overwhelmed in, because what happens from here on is down to me.

This week I decided I needed to get my little area finished; I had purchased a gorgeous bunting over Christmas and just needed a little more to finnish it off. Monday morning I nipped to B&Q to get myself a picture ledge, and a variety of frames. I had been admiring my good friend Hayley’s picture ledge and decided this was exactly what I needed.

I found the free pintable’s on Chicfetti, it has the most amazing selection it took me ages to choose. The only one I made myself was the Lily Bollinger quote; I have been trying to fit this into our home somewhere for years.

Once armed with my frames and prints, and Chris had put the shelf up for me. I set too arranging my little space and I love it. It blends in with our lounge perfectly and looks so pretty and inspiring. Just what I wanted, it feels the most wonderful space to work. And if I get fed up, or simply want to swap around my images and quotes then I can because it is my little space, somewhere to create, dream and plan.

Totally gorgeous Sarah and I really must get to B&Q soon and get some picture shelves for our dining room (which doubles up as my blogging space lol). You have done amazing in creating your own girlie blogging space, no boys allowed ha xx

Love it Sarah! I’m hoping to actually do some little makeovers on our home this year. Starting with our lounge and moving on to The Teenagers bedroom. This shelf is a great idea – certainly better than hammering a load of nails in the wall!
