On Friday I was lucky enough to have some spare time in London and get the chance to have an hour enjoying the fashion collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
It is somewhere I have been meaning to visit forever, but never have the time. Or Chris and the boys haven’t got the enthusiasm. They prefer battleships and castles!
I decided to head for the Fashion Collection. It’s not huge, but if you have a real interest it takes some time to get round. It’s actually surreal reading all the notes, they state which year the garment came from, who wore and donated them.
As I stood admiring a wedding dress I wondered how the bride felt on that day. What life was like? And I bet the wearers of these glorious pieces of history never expected their clothes to one day be preserved for the world to enjoy. And wondered how they would feel about it?
These are a few of my fave pics, if you interested in fashion then is so worth nipping in. I just wish I had the time for the underwear exhibition. But I will save that for another day.
Love these photos – I used to enjoy popping into the V&A and wandering around the fashion collection when I worked in London – I remember seeing a few of the dresses that you’ve captured here. Such a lovely way to spend some time 🙂
Louise it is, I just loved having the time to do this. To take in all those gorgeous garments and dream about the people who used to wear them x
Lucky you, I love the V&A -the Inderwear exhibition is well worth a visit if you get the chance. Brilliant pictures #MySundayPhoto

It’s been far too long since I have been to the V&A, it’s so fabulous! Love your shots. That extra wide dress though? They must have had fun getting through doors in that!! #sundayphoto
Ha ha I know, but I would LOVE to wear one one day Emma x
What beautiful pictures and imagine trying to get through a door wearing the dress in your 4th picture. Glad you had the time to wander around with no male interruptions x
Ah thank you Tracey, I know ha ha, but I would so like to live a day in that dress in some grand palace x
Beautiful outfits and photos. I do love the V&A but haven’t had much chance to explore it. Like you, usually the people I’m with aren’t keen to visit.
Merry Christmas
Emma I would highly recommend going on your own it felt like such a treat x
This place is so stunning, I could spend hours here. I went when they did a series on the Queens outfits and a lady that dresses quite conservatively, her outfits are really beautiful!
Oh Tas I would have loved that x
I have not been here in years. I really must change that soon
