If you read my post on Friday you will know that this week we spent 48 hours Manchester, giving us time to see the sights a little more than our usual rushed visits. We visited some incredible attractions but I just wanted to share the photos I took at Chetham’s today, because this place was just stunning, its beauty blew my mind.
I have always been a huge fan of books and find libraries such beautiful places; Chetham’s is without doubt the most beautiful Library I have ever been into. It was like stepping back in time, somewhere I would have loved to pull up a chair grab a coffee and spend time reading. We were luck enough to get a tour of Chetham’s, and spend some time wandering and taking photos, I was in my element.
The Library was founded in 1653, and is one of the oldest public libraries in the world. It is also part of Chetham’s School of Msic, can you imagine going to school here? It feels just like Hogwarts. Chetham’s is right in the center of Manchester, I cannot believe I have walked past it so many times and never knew treasures what lay beyond those walls.
I have a feeling I will now want to nip in every time I pass, I can’t describe how breathtaking it is, I suppose a requirement is to love books but if you do you will not be disappointed.
Pin for later
How fantastic! Like stepping back in time. I was in Manchester too this week – although only in and out in a day with work – but I will have to look this up the next time I am staying in the city.
