Last night, I spent a couple of hours of pure bliss reliving my childhood and seeing it again through the eyes of my goddaughters, watching the phenomenal Mary Poppins Uk tour at the Palace Theatre Manchester.
Like many, Mary Poppins is one of my all-time favourite Disney movies. It’s one of those comfort movies you return to again and again throughout your life. I still have the album somewhere from my childhood, and I also love the whole story of how Walt Disney brought this iconic story to the screen.

About Mary Poppins
Mary Poppins is a magical nanny created by author P.L. Travers. She first appeared in a children’s book published in 1934. She went on to appear in eight books and is best known for arriving with the wind, flying in with her umbrella, and bringing both order and wonder to the lives of the Banks family in London.
In 1964, she was adapted for the big screen by Walt Disney, incorporating the much-loved score co-created by the legendary Sherman brothers. Starring Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins and Dick Van Dyke as Bert. It includes classic songs such as A Spoonful of Sugar and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, and it has won many Oscars, including Best Actress for Julie Andrews.

In 2018, a sequel titled Mary Poppins Returns was released, with Emily Blunt in the lead role. Set years later, it follows the grown-up Banks children as Mary returns to help the next generation.
The stage musical was co-created by Cameron Mackintosh in partnership with Disney Theatrical Productions. It blends elements from the original books and the film and features a mix of well-loved and new songs.

My Review of Mary Poppins
This is my second time seeing Mary Poppins, but it was some years ago. I remember loving it, but the show’s progression is phenomenal. The Mary Poppins of today is more than just a great show.
It’s pure magic, offering wow moments in abundance, mind-blowing effects, and incredible choreography that has you smiling from ear to ear the whole way through. All while maintaining that warm fuzzy feeling, reaching parts of your soul that only Disney knows how to reach.

Stefanie Jones personifies Mary Poppins and plays the part to perfection. Jack Chambers’ Bert is extraordinary and has us all open-mouthed at Step In Time; what a moment! The cast was just first-class. Every note and every step was delivered with a sprinkle of magic that had you feeling like a child again, wanting to revel in the moment but also excited about what was coming next.
A special shout out to the incredibly talented Charlie Donald and Katie Ryden; they could have stepped off the screen. They played Michael and Jane with the perfect measure of sass and cuteness. We left with a spring in our step and a smile in our hearts. Mary Poppins was wonderful. This is a shining example of Disney doing what it does best: filling hearts with joy and happiness.
