A Very Relaxing Day at the Thornton Hall Spa

So when my lovely friend Karen text me to say ‘would you like to go on a Me Time adventure to the very beautiful Thornton Hall Spa’ I was a little bit giddy. Me Time is all about putting time aside for yourself, and the thought of spending the day in a spa after the hectic month I had just raced through was my idea of heaven.

Thornton Hall is located in the Wirral in the most beautiful surroundings, which for me made the day that little bit more special. I mean seriously, it has to be one of the best views from a jacuzzi I have ever experienced in the UK.

Thornton Hall was pretty easy to get to, the journey took an hour and a half from home, I set my phone up and the directions were clear and simple to follow, which for me is a huge thing when you are traveling to an unknown area. And trust me it was worth the journey, a day of lounging, chatting and being pampered what’s not to love about that.

As soon as I arrived the professionalism shone through the greeting by the lovely ladies on reception was warm and genuine. I was shown to the brasserie to meet Karen to enjoy a much-needed coffee.

With the warm sun streaming through the open patio doors we got a little comfy and decided to have a spot of lunch before we entering the spa. Lunch was delicious and the service was great.

We were lucky with the weather it was very hot but a little cloudy, perfect for chilling in the Jacuzzi. We retired to a lounger and just sat chatting, looking at the stunning view whilst sipping a glass of cold prosecco, in fact at this point I was wishing I could stay over as I could have happily sipped prosecco all afternoon, it felt like such a treat.

The pool was such a great size, big enough to be able to swim a couple of lengths rather than just a plunge pool, the pool also had the added benefit of a sauna, steam room and snow cave. Now this was a new one for me, an odd experience being in a snow cave in my swimwear but very refreshing actually.
We had to drag ourselves away for a massage; our Elemis de-stress full body massages were carried out in a duel room by the brilliant therapists Beth and Jasmine. The thing with a massage is you don’t feel you need it until afterwards if that makes sense? After as we sat in the relaxation room I felt I was floating so clearly needed it.

We spent the rest of our day outside just chilling, something you never get to do as a mum. There is always a job to do isn’t there? And if you get a spare half hour you find something to do, feel guilty for relaxing. And that is exactly why you should visit a spa. You have to relax, and lets face it, we deserve to chill out once in a while.

We rounded the day off with dinner in the Brasserie, there is also an a la carte restaurant ‘The Lawns’ which looks incredible but I was conscious of getting home at a reasonable hour for work the next day.
Saying that the Brasserie was incredible, the service, surrounding and food were wonderful. I chose the Calamari and then Salmon dishes which were both delicious. It finished our day off wonderfully.

Thank you Thornton Hall Spa for a wonderful day, I left feeling totally chilled and relaxed and vowing to make more time for days like this.
