Chilling with the Girls at Greenbank Barns

7th October 2016 by SarahJChristie 18 Comments

Last weekend I got to spend a fab night at what is fast becoming one of my favourite UK holiday cottage companies,’ properties in Yorkshire.

I visited Shorthorn at Greenbank Barns with the lovely Julia and Karen, and it was stunning. Back in June we stayed at the breathtaking Brompton Lakes, which as a family we fell in love with.

Greenbank Barns are much larger properties. And like all the Holiday at Home properties is situated in the Richmond area. Yet instead of the view of a gorgeous lake, you have breathtaking rolling hills. Shorthorn has 4 bedrooms 3 of which have en suites and 1 is located next to main bathroom. The biggest problem with the bedrooms is choosing a favourite.

They all have a different style and colour palette, yet are all inviting and stylish yet cozy. Offering all the things you would expect from a luxury property such a fluffy towels, the comfiest pillows, toiletries and T.Vs in the bedroom (essential when traveling with a teens) and the beds can also be split into twin beds if traveling with the family.

And the theme is much the same throughout the property, oh so very stylish. In fact you don’t know where to look first. Whoever designed the interiors of the Holiday at Homes Properties, is a creative genius. Their taste is exquisite. Not only is the decor super cool and stylish.

Greenbank Barn by Holiday at Home has also thought of everything you could possibly need for a perfect stay.

You just need to arrive with you nearest and dearest, and food and drink. There is a huge stock of logs for the wood burning stove, with matches and fire lighters, and the silly things like dishwasher tablets. Dogs bed and even towels for the 4-legged love of you life.

Shorthorn is the perfect place for a complete chill break with family and friends. In fact the 3 of us were rattling around the huge property, we were so enjoying the space and peace. You can imagine it being at its best when full of friends and family. I also don’t think there would be a time of year that Shorthorn wouldn’t be at its best. In the summer you could throw open the doors and live on the patio area whilst the kids play football on the huge lawn. Or enjoy a jacuzzi on a cold winters nights whilst the kids enjoy a game of table football. (Very much a theme in our home)

The kitchen is the sort of kitchen that you want to cook in. Yet is large enough, in fact it’s cavernous and perfect for pre dinner cocktails or gin with friends as you cook.

We decided to do just that, well I say we! Karen and Julia cooked a delicious meal whist I kept drinks topped up and took photos. And actually that worked very well, I like to cook in peace. Wine, friends and cooking are not a good mix for me. So I left to the epic multi takers to it whilst I pottered with a camera and glass of fizz in hand.

Its great just to get together and just chat about life and blogging.

I feel sometimes I learn so much off others, more than I could pick up from a book or event. Having that chance to pick each others brains is fab. But of course with a girly weekend the inevitable always happens, you go off track and talk about anything but the subjects you planned too. The hot tub under the stars beckons and you realise that actually you spend your life multi tasking, running from here to there and deserve to just chill and chat.

And that my friend is exactly what Greenbank Barns is perfect for. Chilling out with your favourite people, catching up with old friends, cooking a leisurely dinner without having to rush off for football practice or open evenings. And getting the chance to catch up on your emails over morning coffee overlooking the fabulous view (thewi-fi is fab) I know the Holiday at Homes properties are places our family and friends will create many happy memories for years to come.

Check out what Karen thought here.

What a wonderful place to get together with Julia and Karen. Look at that hot tub with the amazing views over the countryside, and yes I would LOVE it there. What an incredibly stylish yet homely place to stay. Love the addition of the table football, perfect when holidaying when teens. Beautiful pictures Sarah x

I love your sparkly pillow! I agree that this looks like the sort of place that would be perfect with friends and family – and the surroundings look so quiet that they’d mop up any hullabaloo. So nice that you were able to get away from it all and relax with lovely friends. #MondayEscapes

This is definitely my kind of self-catering cottage – so stylish. Will have to make a note of Holiday at Homes for future reference.
