QLodges Our Stunning Lodge, A Real Home From Home

Share

Last week we were lucky enough to spend a glorious long weekend at QLodges Slaley Hall, Northumberland. Nestled in 1,000 acres of breathtaking countryside, this really is the perfect family lodge break. When you visit a resort for the first time you really don’t know what to expect. Will the lodge be nice? Will it meet your expectations? Will the kids get bored? I could go on but you get my drift.

Well, I need not have worried. I will share in my next post just how much he loved the wonderful estate and all the incredible activities. But today I wanted to share just how gorgeous the lodge is, and trust me this can’t be done in a paragraph, it was stunning.

Check-in takes place at Slaley Hall main reception, and was a quick easy process, where we received our lodge keys, and the key to our very own golf buggy. Yes, you read right every lodge has its very own golf buggy. At first I though it was a little extravagant, I mean what is wrong with walking right? But the Slaley Hall Estate is vast and the buggy was a godsend, perfect for nipping out for a spot of lunch or nipping up to the spa or golf club. And you still get plenty of opportunities to enjoy the wonderful walks, but as a family we loved the golf buggy.

We soon had a visit from Richard the lodge manager, who called in to tell us a little about the estate, the lodge and check we had no questions. Because the Lodge estate is small you can really feel the personal service.

The lodges are set in a small exclusive estate on the outskirts of Slaley Hall; they were all nicely spread out giving you lots of space around your lodge, and the feeling you were not hemmed in. Ours even had a garden area; this was perfect for the boys to play football. I loved that we were able to enjoy a cup of coffee on the huge balcony without feeling overlooked. It felt so tranquil.

Entering the lodge just took our breath away, it is a pine-framed structure, which is laid over 3 split levels giving the lodge such an airy spacious feeling.

The ground floor consisted of an ultra modern and gorgeous dining kitchen that had everything you could possibly need, even down to cake tins should you feel the need to bake, a coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer. The table, cook and glassware are all high quality, which makes dining in the lodge feel just like dining at home. We arrived to a fantastic welcome pack of coffee, milk, and breakfast all ready and waiting. You could even arrange daily papers should you so wish. QLodges have thought of every detail to make your stay as relaxed as possible.

Continuing on the ground floor there are two twin bedrooms, an en suite and main bathroom with a sauna. Both bedrooms have wardrobe and draw space so plenty of space to hang your clothes. The bathrooms have shower-gel, soap, toilet tissue and fluffy soft white towels and are beautifully designed.

The lounge area although huge is incredible snug with a wall of windows overlooking the gardens and letting lots of light in but also leading out a vast balcony. The lounge furniture and indeed the furniture throughout the lodge is very tasteful and great quality, and the electrical goods are quality bands such as a Samsung TV and Bose Bluetooth speakers, there has been no skimping on quality at any level.

The tops level of the lodge houses an office area which I just adored, it gave me the opportunity to work on my blog using the in lodge Wi-Fi when needed, but still be in the room. I was able to view the boys from my little vantage point and still feel part of what was going on.

This lead to the master suite, which was such a beautiful space with a comfy chair, flat screen TV, en-suite, dressing area, it felt such a luxurious space, somewhere you could spend hours chilling.

We all fell in love with the lodge it was the most cosy, yet modern and luxurious space, in fact when we arrived on the first evening we did not want to go out, but decided to cook a meal and have a chill night. Q Lodges is the type of place you just relax as soon as you close that lodge door. The boys continually asked all weekend could we come back? They loved it so much. And I honestly can’t think of one thing they could have provided in the lodge that could have improved our stay, it was all there for us, including a compressive guide to Slaley Hall, the restaurants, bars, activities and events. There was even a takeaway service.

In face we left knowing we will most definitely return to QLodges, we had the most wonderful stay.

Check out our little Lodge Vlog we made to appreciate and layout and space in these beautiful lodges.

  1. What a great insight into Q Lodges and I love your vlog Sarah. I cannot believe how spacious the lodge is, and how gorgeous is the bathroom. Whilst I was watching the vlog Katie came over and said ‘cool are we staying there mummy’. She knows me too well and my love for lodges lol. Its great that you also get to use all the facilities of the hotel whilst having your own space. Perfect xx
