QLodges Our Stunning Lodge, A Real Home From Home

Last week we were lucky enough to spend a glorious long weekend at QLodges Slaley Hall, Northumberland. Nestled in 1,000 acres of breathtaking countryside, this really is the perfect family lodge break. When you visit a resort for the first time you really don’t know what to expect. Will the lodge be nice? Will it meet your expectations? Will the kids get bored? I could go on but you get my drift.

Well, I need not have worried. I will share in my next post just how much he loved the wonderful estate and all the incredible activities. But today I wanted to share just how gorgeous the lodge is, and trust me this can’t be done in a paragraph, it was stunning.

Check-in takes place at Slaley Hall main reception, and was a quick easy process, where we received our lodge keys, and the key to our very own golf buggy. Yes, you read right every lodge has its very own golf buggy. At first I though it was a little extravagant, I mean what is wrong with walking right? But the Slaley Hall Estate is vast and the buggy was a godsend, perfect for nipping out for a spot of lunch or nipping up to the spa or golf club. And you still get plenty of opportunities to enjoy the wonderful walks, but as a family we loved the golf buggy.

A Postcard From Q Lodges, Slaley Hall, And I Am Super-Mum

For todays postcard, as I sit in my beautiful Q Lodges office I am feeling pretty smug. And very confident I am in the running for Mum of the year, why?

The boys love, love, love Q Lodges. They keep asking when can we come back? They just love it here. In fact we all do.

Last night before a delicious dinner at the Claret Jug we had a cocktail making lesson at the 19th Hole. Now, I do love a cocktail so this was heaven for me, what I didn’t anticipate was how much fun it would be as a family activity. The boys really got into the spirit of the activity and had so much fun shaking their mocktails with the wonderfully entertaining Adrian.

My Sunday Photo, A Postcard From Q Lodges

Today we were up bright and early for our golf lesson with incredibly patient Steve. I must say after an hours instruction I now know where I was going wrong. Of course I will never be as good as the over-confident Christie boys but I held my own and thoroughly enjoyed the lesson.

We have had the warmest welcome from Richard and all the team from Slaley Hall and are now unpacked and cosy in our gorgeous lodge. I honestly think it is the most beautiful lodge we have ever stayed in. It has a most stunning decor, so stylish yet very cozy. In fact we unpacked and decided we just did not want to leave the lodge so change all our plans for the evening to have a cosy family night in.

Aldwark Manor, The Perfect End To Our Summer Adventure

We have all felt post holiday blues haven’t we? I feel it after the summer break every year. I get home and get organised, get all the washing done and then bang! It hits me, that sinking feeling that my holiday is over. This year was different; we got home, unpacked then repacked for the following …

Revisiting The Queens Q Hotel

When we first visited the incredible Queens Hotel the weather was horrific, in fact treacherous. The wind and rain were torrential on the journey over, followed the heaviest snow. It was so bad we decided on the Saturday we had better not hang about and set off back home very early in the day. As it happens we were right to do so, had we set on an hour later we would never have made through the country roads home.

Leeds 2Now don’t get me wrong, apart from the weather we had a wonderful time at the Queens in fact I would go as far to say we all fell in love with the warmth of Jaquie, her team and the incredible history and atmosphere of this iconic hotel. We were also very lucky that Jaquie had booked us a day training with the Leeds Rhinos, so we had an excuse to go back and visit Leeds in the summer.
