How are you all doing? Life here is pretty calm apart from the odd teen strop. Which I am thankful for, it makes life feel a bit more normal. I have seen all these parents with younger children talking about not having a minutes peace. However our experience is quite the opposite.
Although I am constantly stalked, but that is by Toby and Alf, I do wonder how they are going to cope being alone when life gets back to normal? But you know what, they are also on hand for cuddles, although walking anywhere alone is a challenge these days!
Alf is slowly losing weight as he was a tad chunky when he arrived. Also training him has been hilarious, however, a very welcome distraction and we are getting there. Let’s just say he is a loveable rogue.
Poor Toby was really ill with a bug last week which was so upsetting and worrying. Fortunately an emergency trip to the vets and injection seems to have sorted him out, but he has lost quite a bit of weight.
I think it’s the downside of all the extra people bringing their dogs to the countryside. There are not usually many dogs who walk on our road, and the vet seemed to think he had caught a bug on his walk. Hopefully this will start to setting down again soon, or at least if people do have ill dogs they dont take them out to infect other dogs.
We Were Sent A Kami YI Camera To Review
Which is going to be amazing when I do go back to work. It is set up to my mobile phone, it is in essence a security camera, which in itself is so useful, however also doubles as a pet camera. I love that we can talk though it, thus enabling us to communicate with the dogs when we are out.
We have been looking at getting security cameras for a while now so are thinking its a good time to get some of the outside cameras set up too.
You can see from my screen shot below how clear the image is on the phone, which for the price of the camera makes it great value, you can add a memory card to record footage or record from your phone. Or get an online subscription which has a 30 day recording loop and motion detection.
The family time has been wonderful, all being at home, working together on the garden, enjoying meals and the odd game of Monopoly.
However, this also makes me feel so guilty, the world is on its knee’s, people are losing loved ones. Yet we are here in this family bubble. We miss our family and friends, but thanks to face time and calls we are are keeping in touch, probably more than we normally would.
I think because we had a horrific time last year loosing many very close relatives in the space of months. We have learnt to cope and make the most of this time, it really is the only way to deal with things for us? Yet, I am also very aware of how very lucky we are to live in a rural area with open space and are able to afford food and to keep our roof over our head, some are not so lucky.
Decorating The Lounge
Not being a family to sit still we spent the first couple of weeks decorating the lounge, I did question whether this was the right thing to do when we were in the middle of it! However am thrilled with the result.
We spent days in the garden last week, there is so much to do. It was always going to be a project for this summer. With all the decking need re-laying and walls needing moving its a big job, but we have time for that now! But it will be a working progress with limited materials, thankfully we do have quite a bit of what we need but not all.
Crafting And Cooking
Crafting has been my salvation, I feel like there hasn’t been enough hours in the day, I have kept myself that busy. And have been busy designing paper cuts for my readers to download and cut, which I have to say is very therapeutic.
Also I have also been trying out a relatively new product from Cricut called infusible ink. This infuses images onto products rather than stick them if that makes sense? It’s taken a few attempts to get it right, however I like that the process will have enabled me to help others get it right.
We have all enjoyed cooking and baking over this period, I have a fab recipe for delicious onion bread to share in the next week but last week shared this authentic Italian Carbonara which reminds me of my trip to Canobio this time last year. When I first tried authentic Carbonara made with egg which is so much nicer than the creamy version.
The boys are a bit over Disney Movies but I can’t image ever not being a fan and am loving watching favourite Disney films. Although watching animal movies with Alf is proving a challenge, this in a area of training we desperately need to work on.
We are also working our way through the Marvel Movies in order, I had to Google this so have created a chart with the correct watch order which is proving popular but also useful. Check out the link above if you want to save my chart.
The Phantom Of The Opera
I was mean’t to watch this the Palace Theatre a couple of weeks ago, obviously that wasn’t meant to be. Honestly, I have wanted to see Phantom forever, Chris never getting the hint or unwilling to go himself? So was thrilled to watch it this weekend thanks to the genius of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber on The Shows Must Go On YouTube. And omg wasn’t disappointed it was wonderful, and so emotional. I cant wait to see what’s on next week.
The Week Ahead
Thats not something I think much about anymore, how odd is that? Living in an eternal state of acceptance is weird, but I have to say I feel content and safe at home. It makes you realise whats important in life?
I hope your week ahead is a healthy one.
