My Favourite Shows Of 2019 And Where You Can See Them In 2020

8th January 2020 by SarahJChristie Leave a Comment

Its time to share my favourite shows of 2019. What a wonderful year in theatre its been? I have laughed, cried, rolled my eyes, held my breath and sat with my mouth wide open as if I was catching flies ( I kid you not!).

Theatre reaches you like no other media can, as if you are in the room. Experiencing first hand Shakespeare’s first night of Romeo And Juliet, or dancing around a lake at midnight.

Shows I Have Loved In 2019

Theatre is nearly always better than the movie. It’s that in the room feeling you can’t experience anywhere else in the world. Ok I know I am theatre mad, I think I have only seen one show this year that I didn’t love, and that just wasn’t my humour. However there are a few that just stood out that little bit more.

I wanted to share my absolute favourites of the year with you. But also tell you where you can catch these gems in 2020.

My Favourite Shows Of 2019

1

& Juliet Review The West End Preview

& Juliet is an exciting new and fresh show set to the music of Max Martin. Looking at the life of Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway but with a modern day twist as Hathaway seeks to change Juliet's future. & Juliet is upbeat, excting and impsirational. You can now catch it at the Shaftesbury Theatre London.

2

Priscilla Queen Of The Desert

Watching Priscilla Queen Of The Desert is like having a shot of happiness, I really never knew what to expect but grinned from ear to ear the whole way through. It has it all, tender and laugh out loud moments , parts that bring tears to your eyes and costumes to die for, Priscilla is on its current tour until May and not one to missed.

3

Moscow City Ballet Presents Swan Lake

The Ballet is my new love of 2019! The way dance and music can tell such a compelling story blew my mind. But Swan Lake had to be my standout favourite Ballet, I held my breath the whole way through. Here are The Moscow City Ballet's tour dates for January, if you haven't seen a ballet put it on the list. Swan Lake is showing in Manchester again very soon.

4

The King And I Uk Tour

Watching the The King And I was magical, I felt as if I was watching it on the big screen it was spectacular. If you are a fan of the movie, this show will not dissapoint, I found myself crying tears of joy several times. This really is the most breathtaking production. The King And I is touring throughout 2020 click here for 2020 productions.

5

Kinky Boots

Omg everyone needs a friend like Lola, I just adore how Kinky Boots adresses prejudice in a way that has the audience rooting for Lola and Charlie Price to succeed. The show is exciting upbeat and inspirational, you can't not leave without a smile on your face it's imposible. Kinky Boots is currently touring the high seas and can be seen on Norwegian Encore. I have seen this show in Manchester and on Encore and both were AMAZING.

In summary theatre opens your mind so many diverse worlds. Above all it’s all about be open to those new worlds.

Disclaimer, I was gifted tickets in return for honest reviews, but all opinions are my own.
