Gardening, Hair Cuts And Concrete.

Share

Hello and how are you this bright almost sunny day! Its been a mixed week weather wise hasn’t it? The rain caused us a lot of problems during the first half of the week. Digging and concreting in the rain is not ideal. Thankfully the weekend and latter half of the week have been kinder allowing us to progress with the build.

The Build So Far

If you want to see me create my projects, follow me on Tik Tok and Instagram.

Chris and the boys have been working so hard to get the footings in. We now have concrete footings and are waiting for the foundation bricks to go in. Its not been without drama, we decided to book a company to pump the concrete in, it rained, the machine broke and the concrete man broke his thumb! I felt so awful for him it must have been agony? We are now waiting for the builder to start so progression is in his hands.

Gardening

Whilst Chris and the boys were working on the build I decided to do some gardening. Garden is not something I ever do, but thought I had better help out.

I spent 4 hours removing overgrown plants and weeds. I have to say I was very proud of my efforts, dare I say gardening is very rewarding. Especially when it looks pretty fabulous when you have finished. But omg I used muscles I didn’t know I had and may have struggled walking and bending for 2 days much to Chris and the boys amusement.

Kitchen Planning

Slowly slowly we are getting there, I stripped a lot of the design right back so it was less fussy. I am not a fan of fancy plinths and boxes. But we left feeling much happier with the design. My only struggle is that part of me so wants navy blue, Chris is not feeling the love and wants grey. We are still waiting for a final price, this is my biggest frustration of the whole build, why does no one want to give you a price?

Cocktail Making

On Sunday I decided a gin slush cocktail was in order to cool down after a day of hard labour. Chris and I sat on the decking amidst the chaos and sipped ice cold cocktails. Sometimes you appreciate those moments when life is so crazy don’t you? The recipe is live now and if you love gin its the simplest of cocktails, more or a slush drink really but wow its refreshing.

Cruise Packing

I have been trying to prepare and for our cruise as we only have just over a week to go. River cruising is so different to Ocean Cruising with different dress codes. I hope I’ve got it right.

We have lots of day trips booked so footwear has been a concern. However I think I have found the comfiest sandals in the world from Next. So comfy I bought them in two colours navy and rose gold.

The great thing about working in a hair salon is that its a great place to break in footwear, if shoes are comfy in salon life they are comfy anywhere. And these babies have well and truly passed the test.

A New Haircut

I have been thinking about going shorter for a while, this week I took the plunge and have gone for a graduated bob, it feels so short at the back but I love it. And it will be so quick and easy to style it! Working in a salon makes you so hair obsessed. I honestly don’t think I have had my hair done as much in years.

The Week Ahead

In true Sarah style my week before our cruise is manic, I am off to London on Sunday to meet with the lovely Karen. We have a Buy A Gift voucher we have been meaning to use for ages so are heading to the Montcalm At Marble Arch for afternoon tea with bottomless fizz, and then chilling out at the Novotel in Paddington.

Then on Monday morning we are heading to Peggy Porschen’s in Chelsea for cake and fizz with all the past Mark Warner Mums. We adored being Mark Warner ambassadors, Joe learnt so much on our ambassador trip and still talks about sailing, windsurfing and all the friends he met on that holiday.

And thats it, another crazy week in the Christie household. Have an amazing week what ever you get up too! I will keep sundancing we need a long hot summer.

  1. Oh no! So sorry you’ve had rain. It has been dry and sunny all of this week here. I hope the weather is better for you over the next few weeks so you can get the building finished.
What a drama getting the concrete layed.
I am going to start weeding our new garden soon. I don’t have a clue what I’m doing but I’m sure it will look better in the end.
I love the sound of your cocktail and I’m not even a fan of gin, maybe I could substitute it with vodka.
    Your hair looks fab!
    Have a great weekend x

  2. Oh my I love your hair, I’ve always wanted a curly bob since forever, but having dead straight hair it’s always been a bit of an issue. I did get it permed once upon a time but the effect was really not what I wanted. And I love your sandles too, you have such dinky feet, we are a family of big feet here. Well done on the gardening, it is hard work and I don’t envy you. I wish someone would come and do mine for me. One day you will have that extension and kitchen of your dreams I’m sure.
thanks for linking up to #wotw
