Crafting, Theatre And A New Blog Theme

Share

Hello and how are you this week? The weather has not been so kind has it? How very British of me to chat about the weather, but thinking back its something I discus every single week. It matters doesn’t it? In the winter we want frost and snow and in the summer sunshine and blue skies! And why not want a little perfection in life?

But the weather is very much like family life isn’t it? We strive for perfection and never quite get there. But you know what that is ok, I am sure perfection is quite boring. Challenges are what make us strong.

If you want to see me create my projects, follow me on Tik Tok and Instagram.

God only knows where that little lot came from, but its true isn’t it? We put ourselves under a lot of pressure to have the right weather, the best memories when actually we probably have no control over any of it anyway. We live in chaos here, and actually I quite like that, in fact I love it. Anyhow after a little waffling, what have I been up to this week?

I asked for busy and I got it! My feet have not touched the ground, and I haven’t even made it to the gym, the renovation plans are all slowly coming into place, and life is manic but I reach Friday with a sense of achievement.

New Blog Theme

There has been lots of drama lately around blog hosting and themes, But I won’t bore you with the details. However it left me not knowing whether to change my theme of not!

You know how it is? The more you think about doing something the more you want to, or is that just me? So in my wisdom or sheer stupidity, I am no sure which! I decided if I was getting a new theme I would build it from scratch.

Challenging does not cut it, it took days, Sunday I sat at my Mac until 2am on the verge of either tears or throwing the towel in. But not one to give up I persevered, and now have something I am pretty pleased with. The main positive being its unique, I figured the only way to truly achieve unique was to do it myself and create something totally bespoke.

There is a lot of work to do, I figure it will be a continual working progress and I am learning as I go along so am happy with that.

Seeing The King And I

As you know I have had an amazing year in theatre.  I constantly have new favourites shows. This week I saw the King And I at the Opera House in Manchester. It truly was the most beautiful show I have ever seen. And felt like a big screen production in a theatre, I adore the film and the whole story, which was incredible. But the production was breathtaking and made it even more special.

You remember that scene in Annie when she first goes to the cinema, and even though everyone was dancing and singing around her she felt like she was the only person in the cinema, that is exactly what it felt like.

Adapting To Working And Managing Family Life

It my 3rd week working in the salon and I am loving it, I have joined at such an exciting time as the salon is having a major refit next week which is going to be incredible. Adapting to working 2 days when already there was not enough day in the week has been a challenge. But I never realised how much I missed hairstyling. I am such a creative person and although I get to demonstrate that though my blogging and crafting I felt there was something missing. And despite how busy I am this was it, so yes I am mega busy, juggling life, my good friend who owns the salon is also happy to support my blogging. I am so lucky as this really is having the very best of all worlds.

Customising A T Shirt With My Cricut

I have been wanting to style a bretton t shirt for ages and finally found one I like from All Saints. Its a huge oversized tee perfect for wearing with skinny jeans. It was screaming out for a hint of red. I am thrilled with the result, and it was so very easy to do. With the new garden room looming my next plan is a series of cushions, I am thinking a cactus, pineapple, fox, and the jury is still out on the rest. Its all a but random but that is look I love.

Next Week

Next week is a big one, I am off on a press trip with an amazing group of travel bloggers to Lake Maggiore. I have never been to the Italian Lakes before, but wow it looks breathtaking. It is somewhere Chris has always wanted to go, so maybe a family trip will be in order too. The scenery looks stunning and we have lots of plans for exploring the region which is all very exciting.

And then on Saturday the salon is having a grand re-opening, I have seen some of the decor and it is going to look amazing. Nothing is more exciting that a brand new salon decor! Its like having a new kitchen but better.

And that’s me for another week, all very exciting and chaotic, but exactly how I like it. Hope you have a glorious Bank Holiday Weekend.

  1. I know exactly what you mean about perfection, it’s so hard as a perfectionist when things don’t go to plan but I’m getting better at just going with the flow. Well done on building your theme yourself, I wouldn’t even know where to start, there’s no end to your talents Sarah ! It sounds like life is busy but you look and sound so happy, you definitely made the right decision about returning to work. Hope you have an amazing time next week x

Ahh! I have read about all the drama with blog themes and it makes me quite glad I use a really basic one from blogger. lol It seems to have caused so much stress for people. Well done you for carrying on and persevering.
I am glad you’re still enjoying working in the salon. Work is easier if it doesn’t seem like work.

  5. Perfection or not, I think a sense of achievement is one of the best states to be in. I did my theme from scratch. It does take time, which is why it hasn’t changed for a while. I think you’ve done a grand job. Your salon job sounds like it is fitting in well with your life and I can well imagine your creativity is loving it. Your tshirt is fun. Looking forward to seeing your cushions. Enjoy your trip to the Itlaian lakes. That area is beautiful, as is all of Italy. #wotw

  6. I like your new theme and glad you have reached the point of creating something you are pleased with. I had to change themes recently as well and just don’t have the time to tinker with mine that much – thankfully I’ve reached the point of being happy enough with it. The King and I is such an amazing show to see at the theatre. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. It does sound like you’ve had a busy time. I hope you are finding time to relax and enjoying your press trip to Lake Maggiore this week x #WotW
