6 Places To Travel With The Kids in the Holidays

Once the holidays come around, it can be hard to keep the kids occupied and happy. Because let’s face it, even if we take time off there is still a multitude of jobs to do. As parents we never actually stop do we? So I have been doing a little digging, looking at places the kids will love no matter their age, and have rustled up a little inspiration including some of my personal favourite places to take the kids to make some memories and occupy the whole family:

Stay Local And Visit London

Living in the North of England it shocks me how many people have not visited our beautiful capital. Being only 3 hours away by train London is a great place to visit with kids, with so much to do and see. I have created a round up post  that includes some of my favourite places to visit. But the thing with London is that no two trips are ever the same. Every time you visit you discover something new and exiting. Whether it is the worlds smallest police box, or a house lined with candy coloured houses you will never run out of things to do. It’s the perfect place for a last-minute or well planned family trip.

Take them to Harry Potter Warner Bros Studio Tour, London (Leavesden)

The studio is close to central London, so a vacation to London without taking the kids on an exciting journey into the Forbidden Forest is a big no-no! Fans of the franchise can pick up unknown facts and trivia about the characters, see costumes and walk on some of the iconic sets you see in the film. If you want to go on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, be sure to pre-book your tickets online before you go for ease. This is a must for Harry Potter geeks like myself who spent hours pouring over every single little detail much to the annoyance of Chris and the boys.

How do you get to Warner Brothers Studio From Central London?

If you are staying in London you can reach Warner Brothers Studios by train from Euston to Watford Junction, there is then a shuttle bus available to take you directly to the studios.

Check Out The History And Get A Little Caribbean Sun In Cuba

At the top of my list to take the boys is the Caribbean island of Cuba, which is mostly famous for its capital, Havana, and makes for the perfect holiday destination. The city offers a unique and lively culture, one that kids and teens are guaranteed to fall in love with. Things are changing in Cuba and now really is the time to visit to experience Havana as it was in the 50s because not much has changed. This is the only place in the world I have riden in a stretch Lada, I kid you not it was crazy!  Or check out El Floridita where Hemingway is said to have hung out during his time in Havana.

The island is blessed with an abundance of sunshine and there are countless beautiful spots to unwind along the Caribbean beaches as you prepare to spend the rest of the time exploring Cuba’s amazing natural wealth. The gigantic biosphere reserve -Las Terrazas, for instance is a must visit for children as it boasts some of the most exciting and exotic species of animals and birds. It seems a long time since Donna and I spent an incredible 2 weeks exploring and learning Salsa with our Husbands and it really is time for another trip.

Take A Trip To Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris offers two experiences – the Disneyland Park experience and the Walt Disney Studios Park experience. and is a great option if you don’t want to commit to the 10 hour flight to Orlando. Kids are guaranteed to be left in awe in Fantasyland where they can visit Sleeping Beauty’s castle, go on a Snow White adventure and witness Pinocchio’s tale come to life. Plus, it is extremely easy to get to Disneyland from central Paris making it very accessible. Disneyland Paris has something for kids of all ages, with character shows and parades, child friendly features and more extreme rides, perfect for any thrill seeker. Top tip; staying on site makes the trip so much easier, we opted for the New York Hotel which is a short walk from the parks, thus allowing you to nip back to refresh during the day should you want to.

Kids And Teens Are The Priority In Chamonix

Chamonix, for young children, is perfect. It is a fairly small French town presenting tons of facilities and activities planned for residents as well as tourists.  The Richard Bozon Sports Centre for example has heated indoor swimming pools. Days can be spent viewing the magnificent Alps from a close vantage point, strolling around the beautiful streets, enjoying amazing food and not to mention, the local public library has an enormous kids’ area– the ideal place for parents and children. If you fancy it, skiing is also on offer, making it a fantastic choice for any winter holiday.

Skiing and Mountain Biking in Tignes (France)

If the kids are getting restless, what better way of occupying them and getting them away from the TV then taking them up into the depths of nature as they are able to breathe in some of the purest airs. In the Alps, you can enjoy mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding or even just a good mug of hot chocolate! Whatever your ski ability or age, there are classes and different jumps suited for every skill set.

These places will help kids make some unbelievable memories and get them off the sofa! On top of that, they’ll also get to participate in and witness something unique and amazing. Travel is all about broadening the mind and becoming excited about new challenges. New experiences are what makes our children excited about travel and seeing the world.
