Liverpool Ice Festival 2018

Sometimes its nice to try out a new city and find out what other areas have to offer. And in a quest for something new Chris, Joe and I recently nipped over to Liverpool to check out the Ice Festival at Pier Head.

Liverpool Ice Festival is running until 6th January 2019

The festival which can be located on the waterfront at Pier Head is the perfect place to visit with the family in conjunction with a sneaky shopping trip to Liverpool One.

You can never get bored of wandering the waterfront and dock area. And the Ice Festival gives proceeding a much more festive atmosphere with a selection of fairground rides to suit all ages. It also boasts an Ice Skating rink, the best ice slides I have ever seen, and a great selection of street food vendors.

The Ice Festival Opens at 11am and you can book sessions right up until the last session at 8pm on most days. Ice skating at the Liverpool Ice Festival costs £40 for a family ticket for a 45 minute session (2 adults and 2 children) plus £2 for a locker which is compulsory if you carry a bag. Penguins can be hired on a first come, first serve basis at £5. (cash only)  And the ice slide cost £6 for 3 slides. It would be advisable to book the early session and be the first on the ice.

I have skated since I was a teen and love getting the opportunity to be let loose on the ice.  I am no pro, my skating skills are to a basic level, but there is nothing like the feeling of being on ice. It’s such a wonderful family activity, Joe is totally like Bambi but adores skating, Chris has improved over the years and has progressed from his days of getting lapped by 5 year olds!

There is enough to do to keep you busy for hours and of course you have to wander over to the Albert Dock and take in the atmosphere before heading over to Liverpool One for a spot of shopping and lunch.

We dined at the Clubhouse Restaurant

It is a colonial style restaurant with a quirky but stylish decor and great food. Serving a selection of hanging kebabs, burgers and rotisserie, salads and amazing cocktails. The atmosphere is chilled but cool, its a great place to chill as a family after a morning checking out the attractions.

I would thoroughly recommend checking out the Ice Festival and dock area this Christmas. We had a wonderful morning taking in the incredible atmosphere Liverpool style. Parking for the Ice Festival  is available at Q Park on Dale Street which is a 10 minutes walk away. Check out the Christmas In Liverpool page to find out what is happening across the city during the festive season?

Please not we were gifted our tickets and lunch but all thoughts are my own.

We’re actually going to the ICE village in Manchester. Your trip over looks so much fun. It’s a City we’ve never really visited. George loved Ice Skating a few weeks ago and your photos are fab too x

Looks good. I’m planning on visiting Liverpool in mid-January. Hopefully it won’t be too chilly!

Good to know it’s open after Christmas too as we are pretty booked up most weekends but always look for stuff to do in between the big day and NY

Liverpool is a city we’ve not explored yet, though the husband and our middle girl are desperate to as they are both huge LFC fans! We’d have to combine it with a tour of Anfield somehow I think. The ice slides at the festival look like such fun – sounds like you all had a brilliant time. I think it’ll be summer before we get up there so hopefully there will be plenty of cool stuff going on in the city then too.
