My Weekly Round Up, Family

This week has raced by at a rate of knots, but after a crazy weekend calm is now restored in the Christie household. Well as calm as is humanly possible in this house. The week has been a week of organising and breathing a huge sigh of relief that Jack arrived safely back home Monday night after having a fabulous time in Amsterdam.

It’s odd you can sense the change in the house now he has taken that first step and travelled abroad alone. Nothing has changed, but it also has if you know what I mean.

If you want to see me create my projects, follow me on Tik Tok and Instagram.

Joe had his first outing with the Air Cadets selling poppies

He was so proud in his uniform and looked so smart, I took loads of photos but they have all gone off my camera. I can’t work out why I am so disappointed. However he is marching on Remembrance Sunday so will get more then. It wonderful to see him so settled at school and doing something he loves. I just wish I had a crystal ball this time last year to tell me everything was going to be ok.

A family weekend away

Last weekend we headed up to Richmond to Brompton Lakes. To meet up with my family for my gorgeous little nieces Christening. I took loads of lovely family photos. but some things are not for sharing are they?

We love Brompton Lakes, it’s the most tranquil place and the lodges are so luxurious and contemporary. It really is the perfect place to spend family time with no interruptions. We are already planning a weekend for next year.  Of course the fact that one of my children was wild and free in Amsterdam was at the back of my mind all time.

And he was sorely missed, there was a little Jack shaped hole in the celebrations. But we soldiered on and had a wonderful time. Thanks to family, lots of laughing a steaming hot jacuzzi and pink fizz.

What I wore

Christenings are funny aren’t they? You don’t want to over or under dress! I chose this gorgeous dress from T.K.Maxx thinking it looks fab with heels but can be worn with boots for everyday wear too.

New dress from TKMaxx

Red is not a colour I usually go for but as soon as I saw it I felt in love with the simple design. I may have bought another dress too, also in red tones. So am just looking for the right occasion to wear it.

On the Crafting Front

I designed a new blog header, mine was looking a bit blah! Then I discovered purely by accident the new marble, water colour and glitter feature for lettering in PicMonkey. So last night I thought I would have a play about and came up with this. It feels so much brighter and fresher.  OMG I love it!

Oh and I made these super cool straws for my gin bar. Of course I am committed to buying paper straws now, but we do like a straw in the Christie household. These snowflake gin straws took me minutes with my Cricut Maker. I love that machine more and more every day,  if I want something unique, I just make it.

Make your own personalised party straws

Next week I have an exciting Christmas project to prepare for the Cricut Christmas Craft Along. And I want a cool yoga sweatshirt, so I am going to try to pick up a plain slouchy sweatshirt and customise it with iron on vinyl. Watch this space!

Next Week

There is a little trip to Manchester planned to see Kinky Boots at the Opera House omg I am so giddy, I watched the film last year, have you seen it? If not, you have to watch it. It’s a true story and it’s blooming amazing. I CAN’T WAIT!

I will also be putting the finishing touches to my gin bar and photographing my crafting cupboard which is finished woohooo. And we are feeling pretty thrilled with our efforts.

The craft cupboard is looking fab, I have been sharing the progress all week all my stories, it just goes to show what you can do with a small space.

You know what? Before I sat down I genuinely thought I did not have much to say. HELLO! Like that EVER happens to me?  Have an amazing week whatever you have planned.

  3. What a lovely week you’ve had. Glad Jack had a great time in Amsterdam. I’m dreading my daughter going away with her friends – says the girl who regularly went on holidays from age 16, I dread to think how my mum felt back then. I do love that dress, I’m definitely popping into TK Maxx next time I venture into town. Love the new header and I am so jealous of your gin bar – fab watching it take shape on insta stories. Have a great time at the theatre x
