Share

I recently took a trip to the extraordinary Puy Du Fou theme park, which is the perfect family holiday destination. Thus offering magic and intrigue by the bucket load.  There is so much to share check out my Puy Du Fou Guide For Families but first I want to talk about  Puy Du Fou Hotels as they are very special indeed.

Le Camp Du Drap D’Or At Puy Du Fou in France?

Puy Du Fou is only an hour’s drive from Nantes airport, where you can hire a car or arrange a taxi to get to the park. (Please note there are tolls en route so ensure you have a card or some change handy)

Staying at Le Camp Du Drap D'Or at Puy Du Fou

Le Camp Du Drap D’Or is just a short walk from the gates of Puy Du Fou.

Making it the perfect retreat after a day of magic in the park. This Puy Du Fou hotel is a historical themed hotel, which oozes charm and style. Yet above all offers practical family accommodation close to the park. Also the late night shows make the on site proximity of the hotel the perfect location.

The Camp du Drap D’Or invites its guests to follow in the footsteps of Henry VIII and Francis I of France in one of 100 flamboyant ‘lodgings’ of the Field of the Cloth of Gold.

Whilst the lodges appear to be luxurious yurts from the outside. They are in fact well-appointed, themed 1 and 2 bedroom suites featuring a main room with a 4 poster bed (which is super comfy) also leading through to a second smaller room with bunk beds. Thus crating a super cool family travel experience.

Suites also have a bathroom and separate luxury shower room offering flexibility for families.

Practicalities of the lodges at Le Camp Du Drap D’Or.

The Suites have free Wi-Fi, a safe, air-conditioning and heating.  Additionally there is shower gel and hand soap in the wet room and a hairdryer. Storage is ample for a 2-night visit, with a wardrobe area and coat hangers. Additionally plenty of European plug sockets I counted 4.

In room TVs has a variety of TV and radio channels. I was given a guide at reception with all the channel numbers. Check out channel 29 The Puy Du Fou channel in English it has lots of hints and tips and behind the scenes info about the park.

Rooms are cleaned every day and towels replaced whilst you are out enjoying the parks.

Park entrance is only – €35/adult for 1 day (all the shows and activities, included the night show “Les Orgues de Feu” ) and €25/child for 1 day. Or €56/adult for 2 days and 40€/child for 2 days.

Additionally you are able to stay on site in a Puy Du Fou themed hotel from €382 per family, including 2 days at the park, one night in an on-site hotel, private parking, breakfast and night show “Les Orgues de Feu”.

However rooms do not offer tea and coffee-making facilities or water, I would advise taking a stock of water or soft drinks for your room. Drinks are available at the hotel bar and in the park. Please note, the tap water is also perfectly safe to drink.

Breakfast at Puy Du Fou Hotels such as Camp Du Drap D’Or is continental.

Offering a choice of cheeses, bread, cold pancakes, pastries and the most delicious fruit salad and yoghurt, fresh juices, water and tea and coffee.

All of the food I ate during my visit was to the highest of standards. The fruit was delicious and fresh, the pastries buttery and soft and a wonderful choice of hot drinks.

Evening meals At Puy Du Fou are an event.

There are many dining options within Puy Du Fou, including a wonderful bistro and themed dinners. All the on site hotels all have restaurants.

The restaurant at Camp Du Drap D’Or is an all you can eat grill buffet offering delicious cuts of meat, salad, vegetables, cheeses and amazing desserts. With a price tag of £23 pounds for adults and £12 pounds it is great value.

My Thoughts on The Camp Du Drap D’Or Hotel.

I loved everything about it the service and staff were wonderful. The lodges were high quality and immaculate and the location to the park is great. Camp Du Drap D’Or Hotel feels magical allowing you to extend the magic of the parks and stay in that magical bubble of Puy Du Fou even longer.

In conclusion I can’t wait to go back and would thoroughly recommend it. If you would like a virtual tour, my room tour vlog is below.
