Share

The Canary Islands are the perfect place to visit for all round sun. And there are so many family friendly places to stay and great things to do in Tenerife.

With the average temperature in Tenerife being 27° in the summer months and 21° in the winter months, the weather in Tenerife is wonderful. And that’s one of the reasons the island is the perfect place to get some much needed winter sun.

But what about where to stay and what to do whilst you are there? I have enlisted the help of a few friends to help me create a guide of things to do with children in Tenerife.

Where are the best places to stay in Tenerife?

We loved the Bahia Principe, Cost Adeje.

The last time we visited Joe was a toddler. Our priority was finding a luxury family friendly hotel with different dining options, a great pool in tranquil location.

The Bahia Principe in Costa Adeje was perfect for us. With several huge pools, and lots of pretty buildings making the resort feel like a beautiful Mediterranean village. The dining is not a’la’carte but it is nice enough and offers several options. The rooms are spacious and although the resort is hilly it was easy enough to negotiate a buggy around.

Jo from Kiddie Holidays recommends the Hard Rock Hotel, Playa Paraiso.

Jo says ‘This unique hotel is perfect for families looking for a stylish hotel in Tenerife. Which is also really baby and toddler friendly”  But is also perfect for teens with its super cool atmosphere.  “Don’t be put off by the concerts taking place on the hotel’s open air stage, and the music playing around the hotel – this hotel loves children too!”

“There are 10 bars and restaurants at the Hard Rock Hotel ranging from a Tapas Bar, Asian restaurant, Steak House, Beach bar and Swim Up Bar. The buffet breakfast is really popular for its range of waffles, yoghurts, smoothies, ham, cheese and breads.” perfect for keeping hungry teens full.

Carrie From Flying With A Baby recommends Sandos San Blas Resort Tenerife.

She loved how the hotel is based in a nature reserve and is situated right on the coast.  Carrie liked how It has a peaceful feel due to the tropical greenery and is in a fairly remote location – for those that wish to get away from it all. There are a couple of nice little villages (San Blas and Los Abrigos) within walking distance of the hotel.

For water activities in Tenerife check out Siam Park in Costa Adeje.

Greta from Mums Do Travel says I really enjoyed my brief visit to Siam Park and I think that my teenage kids would enjoy it there a lot. You could easily spend a whole day at the park and still want to go back again, as there’s so much to do there. It’s great that there are options for all ages at the park. It’s a beautiful, relaxing environment to spend time in, and I’d definitely recommend it as a fun place for a family day out.

Sarah from Family Travel Times recommends, “Heading to the beach in Tenerife”

Sarah and her family had a great time exposing volcanic beaches and breath-taking landscapes. She said “Tenerife went beyond our expectations, despite missing Mount Teide! We thought it was a great place for a family holiday, easy to eat out, with lots to do for all ages and breath-taking natural beauty. It was also so lovely and hot! We’d love to go back.”

Lisa one of my co editor’s from Cruising With Kids says to see Dolphins and Whales in their natural habitat do a boat tour.

Whale and dolphin watching boat tours are very popular with families visiting Tenerife.  The southwest coast of the island is the perfect place for spotting whale and dolphins in their natural habitat.  If you are lucky you may see the friendly dolphins jump out of the water so have your camera at the ready!
