My Weekly Round Up, Dilemma!

This week has been another funny week. One of trying to sort lots of little issues! With school and moving in the forefront of our minds.

The thing is the pair are getting a little crossed over now. I suppose ultimately they will, but at the same time, at the moment they are also confusing each other. For now I am trying to rebuild my trust in school, which is not going to be easy. But I also have to be mindful they have some wonderful staff that do want to help and giving them a chance can’t hurt at this point. Things can only get better!

I do wonder if the education mess is across the board? If you study the league tables for our area on GCSE outcomes it’s a very sad tale. Not one school in our local authority area can currently say that more than 45% of their students got a maths and English GCSE above C(5) in 2017. That is scary. Is it the new GCSE’s; is it funding cuts, staff moral or society?

And why can no one answer this question, why is no one at a higher level asking the question. And why when you ask as a parent, do feathers get ruffled? This is our children’s future, the odds of getting a GCSE in many areas of the UK are more of a gamble than a probability and that is scary. By law you must go to school, but you only have a 50/50 chance of getting qualifications. Well, that is just not good enough. I know I am like a broken record with this but why on earth is no one doing anything about it?

Last weekend Chris and I stepped off the wheel for 24 hours.

Whilst Joe went off to spend time and do jobs with his Grandma and Granddad. We popped over to the Spread Eagle in the village of Sawley for an overnight stay and dinner. Which was a lovely Christmas gift from Chris’s parents. The hotel is part of a small boutique chain that offer beautiful country locations with quirky interiors and delicious food.

Our room was so pretty, and the food was fab. We had a lovely evening drinking wine, chatting and planning. Which was very much-needed after the last couple of weeks. The pub had the loveliest view of a river and it was wonderful to watch the sunset on a beautiful day as we dined.

I have been trying out liquid vitamin supplements this weeks.

I don’t have to talk about them on my blog, but I feel I have to as the Liquid Health supplements are working wonders on my skin. I am really feeling the benefit of taking them. I have never been one for supplements, but these are vitamin and collagen based supplement and they are working wonders alongside my skin care regime.

You are so right, those statistics are appalling, someone needs to be asking these questions. I do hope you are getting somewhere with school, it must be so stressful. Glad you managed to get a break, it looks lovely x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

How lovely to get away. Sounds a thoroughly good break. Love the porch. We’re re-doing ours, so always on the look out for ideas. Hmm. I agree that the stats sound dreadful. I can’t help thinking that the new exam scoring system is not going to help. We’re going through GCSEs for the first time and it feels like walking on shifting sand. I hope you can sort out the school issues and the house move. #wotw

Oh that’s so frustrating Sarah, no wonder you’re in a conundrum. Hope you manage to get some positive strides in soon x

Those statistics really are awful, and just not fair on our kids who work really hard. I can’t imagine what you are all going through, and I bet you really needed that night to just get away and forget the world. Hugs x
