I have recently returned from the perfect trip to Tuscany with a wonderful bunch of travel bloggers. We went to check out what Country Relais and Spa Le Capanne Villa has to offer.
Country Relais and Spa Le Capanne, which is part of the Bookings For You portfolio is owned by the wonderful Giovannini family.
And is perfect for all travellers. It has everything you could possibly need for a family holiday, girls weekend, wedding or anniversary celebrations in the sun or creative retreat.
Having 9 en-suite bedrooms, two of which are suites, a spa and good-sized pool, it will comfortably sleep 22. Making the Villa the perfect family retreat. With a fully functioning Tuscan kitchen, a large comfy lounge and 3 dining areas, formal, informal and outside it is perfect for large family meals.
And at a price tag of €8000 for the summer holidays this really is the perfect base to explore Tuscany with friends and family. Costing 4 families sharing €2000 a week per family plus flights, for a property of this size and quality is just perfect.
There are also many options to add catering and home cooked Tuscan meals to your stay at Country Relais and Spa Le Capanne.
From pizza parties to formal dining experiences and breakfast.
Or should you dream of pottering in a Tuscan kitchen you can choose the self-catering option. This makes the property perfect for celebrations and weddings. And allows you to totally tailor the catering options of your stay to suit your needs. We were lucky enough to sample many of the dining experiences; all fabulous home cooked Italian food served in the most beautiful location.
For me the highlight was the cooking demo with Fabiola, all of the food was just so delicious and sourced locally.
The Giovannini Family pride themselves on the quality of their food, and produce their own olive oil grown on-site to ensure they achieve an authentic Italian taste. The family also own Dolceria Del Corso cafe and pastry shop in the picture perfect village of Volterra. Which serves the most incredible selection of cakes and pastries and omg the Italian donuts, you have to try them.
The family have owned Country Relais and Spa Le Capanne since 2004
And in that time have worked hard to restore the property (that is over 100 years old) in a way that celebrates its Tuscan heritage. Which offers a luxurious but authentic rustic decor that can only make the interior crazy amongst us swoon with delight at all the cleverly thought out finishing touches.
Activities at Country Relais and Spa Le Capanne
I warn you this is the kind of place you will just want to chill and soak up the Italian sun by the pool. With a glass of wine in hand whilst enjoying the peace and tranquillity and Tuscan views. However should you feel a little more adventurous the Giovannini family are on hand to help you arrange activities such a golf, hiking and horse riding.
Should you want to hire a car and explore Tuscany from Country Relais and Spa Le Capanne?
Pisa and the airport is an hour away
Flights can be booked from most UK airports and if you are using air-miles BA flies from Heathrow to Pisa for 15000 Avios and £42.00 for a return trip. It’s worth checking out the Leaning Tower of Pisa before or after your flight!
Volterra is a must!
It is only 15 minutes away and market day is buzzing with lots of local produce on offer. Volterra is where Stephenie Meyer based many of her Italian scenes in Twilight. If you are a fan then wandering the streets of Volterra really does feel so close to the movie. And if you are a lover of pretty doors, Volterra is the place of insta-door dreams.
Siena is just over an hour away
It is the home to Basilica Cateriniana where St. Catherine of Siena spent a large part of her life. You can’t visit Siena without visiting Piazza del Campo. Make sure you wander the winding back streets and check out the rooftops of Siena, they are just breath-taking, with all that detail and colour.
And Florence is around an hour and 40 minutes drive
Here you can wander the streets marvelling at the street art. Visit the Ponte Vecchio Bridge and pop in to pay Michelangelo’s David a visit. I had no idea how profound this visit would feel, but Florence is truly beautiful. Even in the rain, in fact, especially in the rain.

I left Country Relais and Spa Le Capanne and Tuscany feeling more in love with Italy that I had been when I arrived. And I honestly didn’t think that was possible. I also left feeling very much part of the Giovannini families extended family, after enjoying such incredible hospitality from the most beautiful people in a truly wonderful location.
