It’s been two weeks since my last round up, I have been full of a cold, manic busy and then had food poisoning. It’s been a bit of an odd but fun couple of weeks, full of crafting and food.
A little advice if you ever open a can of tuna and it doesn’t taste just right; don’t put it down to a cold and taste buds, just DON’T EAT IT!
But that aside it has been half term here and Joe chose to go to a sports club for the week rather than stay at home with me. I have to say I was a little miffed. But he has had the best time, so much so he is exhausted every night. And seeing how much confidence it has given him is wonderful. It really confirms all my concerns re school, you should always trust your instinct as a parent.
It’s been pretty quiet around here this week on the family front, but has flown. It’s been lovely enjoying the evenings getting a little lighter and hearing the birds singing a little more. I am so so excited for spring now. Oh I adore winter but get to February and the spark has worn off the season.
Our Center Parcs trip keeps us going after Christmas and then once that is over I am ready for spring.
Last week I attended an Italian Master Class with Bookings For You and the Giovannini family who are famous for their food in Volterra, Italy. We all know how much I love food right? And the master class was just incredible, I will share more next week but I picked up so many hints and tips. I think I may even have a go at making fresh pasta at some stage.
And did you catch sleepless in Seattle on Valentine’s Day? Its one of my fave films, such a feel good movie and omg I want to live in that boathouse. It’s incredible how interiors fashion go around and that house looks like it’s on trend now.
I ordered the Tom Kerridge book last week after reading so much about it and wow, there are so many great recipes I want to try, but I started this week with the doner kebabs. They are totally my food weakness in life! I know, don’t judge me! But these are the healthy version and taste amazing. I have to say as I was cooking them I wasn’t hopeful as it didn’t look pretty at all, but they were amazing. Who would have thought you could have low-fat kebabs?
I have also finished How To Be Happy by Eva Woods and it is the loveliest but saddest book. It shows how happiness can be found in sorrow. The characters were so engaging, you go through the book hoping for a miracle but know it isn’t likely, all the while Polly the main character is creating the smallest of miracles and changing the lives of people she loves for the better.
My next book is Eleanor Elephant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. The reviews are great so I have high hopes for it, although How To Be Happy will be a tough act to follow.
Oh my, my new Cricut Maker arrived this week and I love it! Its quicker and more precise when cutting fabric making it perfect for fabric projects. Check out my un-boxing video below, it was the perfect opportunity to have a play about. I have also made a paper cut, it’s not perfect, but have learnt a few lessons and know what to do next time to iron out those little imperfections.
Next week I plan to make and vlog a cushion, I am still planning my design but can’t wait to get going. I made a cushion for a friend’s bridal shower last week and I was thrilled with it.
Yep still need to up my game here, but I did get back to swimming this week so can include swimwear. I can not believe I have not been swimming since Christmas, but that’s it now I have had a BIG word with myself and will be getting fully back into my exercise routine rather than making excuses.
We have a lovely weekend planned and are looking forward to a catch up with some of our closest friends, I have also planned tickets to see the Sound Of Music at the Palace Theatre, Manchester in March. I love the Sound Of Music and am definitely a musical kinds gal, so can’t wait for this one! There are so many shows I want to see this year but this is a great one to start with.
Have a lovely week whatever you are up to?
