An Italian Master Class And Thinking Of Italian Sunshine

Share

A couple of weeks ago I took a trip way down south with the lovely Colette to attend an Italian Master Class with Bookings For You and the Giovannini Family, who are famous in the Volterra region of Central Tuscany for their hand crafted cakes and pastries.

Amongst many other ventures they own the breath-taking Country Relais & SPA Le Capanne, a luxury 9 bedroom villa in Tuscany.

Completely restored in 2015, the property offers luxurious accommodation for up to 22 guests. The Villa also includes a private spa with a jacuzzi, salt room and massage area. Making it the perfect place for the whole family to enjoy, or to book a wedding in the sun.

Anyhow I am not going to tell you too much about the villa now, as I am off to visit it with a group of travel blogger friends in March, wooohoooo. I can’t wait to share the villa and my thoughts on the region. We have lots planned including trips to Siena and Florence.

Italy is the most vibrant beautiful country, I am so excited to get there and wander the streets with my camera. Soaking in the atmosphere, hopefully with the sun on my face. Ok it won’t be hot, hot, but I will take the Italian Sunshine over British rain any day.

The cooking class was a great chance to meet Jo, the mastermind behind Bookings For You, who have such passion for travel. As such, they offer more than 350 stunning properties throughout 8 regions of Italy. And are just starting to venture into France.

Perfect for family holidays and getting that little bit of chill time with your nearest and dearest. Enabling you to step off the wheel and enjoy long lazy lunches and days by the pool. Leaving plenty of time to wander pretty Italian streets, hunt out sunflowers (or is it only me who does that?) Stopping for the occasional glass of wine or gelato.

And of course meeting the Giovannini family was wonderful; as they will be out hosts next month. There is nothing better than meeting the people behind a brand and that was what this day was all about.

We were taken through an Italian Menu and given hints and tips on how to get the traditional recipes just right.

This included home-made chicken liver pate, bruschetta, ravioli, home-made pasta with eggs, wild boar baked with olives, tiramisu and Italian cake with cream and berries. And you know what? I ate it all. I don’t think I have ever eaten so much for lunch but it was all so delicious. Made with the freshest ingredients, and all from scratch.

I talk a lot about how I try to make most of our meals from scratch. And it was wonderful getting hints and tips on recipes such as pasta and pate which I have never attempted before. Like all things freshly home-made, it tastes better, fresher and more authentic.

I came away from the day excited for my approaching Italian adventure. Desperate to squeeze so much into our little trip. See beautiful sights, sample wonderful food and wine and enjoy a sunrise or sunset. And you can’t visit foreign lands without grabbing a sunset shot, its one of my laws of travelling.

So watch this space, I can’t wait to get out there and share what Bookings For You and Country Relais & SPA Le Capanne have to offer. They say life is all about the journey, not the destination, and planning this adventure has been a real joy.

  1. This is such a great experience! Even though I don’t like to cook (I love eating though, lol) I would love to attend a class like this.

  2. The class sounds fantastic. I’ve been looking at the photos coming out of Tuscany this weekend – the villa is gorgeous and you had even more fabulous meals to enjoy. What wonderful hospitality from the Giovannini family!
