What You Will Find Here
Hello happy 2018, I hope you had a fab New Year? We had a wonderful time celebrating with friends. And now its all about getting back into a much needed routine.
I didn’t write a round-up last week as I was feeling a little overwhelmed. It’s frustrating how your life can be happy, you work hard and do all the right things. Yet an external influence can upset the apple cart. Well that is sort of what is happening here. I don’t really want to talk about it too much, but I write a parenting lifestyle blog, how can you not talk about issue’s such as cyber bullying. It’s a tough one?
The benefit of living in such a beautiful area, is that I can get out for a spot of fresh air, clear my mind and put things in perspective. There is always someone worse off! We are so lucky and a happy family with great people around us. What I refuse to do is take on someone else’s negativity. Negativity makes you unhappy, brings on self-doubt and who needs that in their lives?
Anyhow on to My Little Loves!
Watched
OMG did you watch Kiri, I was rolling my eyes a bit as the hype went on forever, it felt like that was all people were talking about on the TV and Radio. But wow Sarah Lancashire was amazing, and its clear already this is not cut and dry. The hype was worth it!
I also watched Jimmy and Jamie Friday night. Being a family who love to cook its a show we all love. This week particularly struck a chord with the #NotForKidsCampaign as energy drinks were a huge issue when I was a teacher.
Whilst I totally agree adults should be free to choose what they consume (although these drinks are not for me). Kids and teens should learn to manage their energy levels naturally and not use artificial substitutions. Whatever happened to eating a piece of fruit or a biscuit. Some of these drinks have the equivalent to 2 shots of espresso and 12 teaspoons of sugar!!!
If you saw the show you will have seen that some of the children and teens interviewed were becoming reliant on these drinks to get through the day. This is outrageous and needs to stop for our children’s sake.
Heard
The main album I am currently listening to is Liam Gallagher’s As You Were. It’s fantastic, and amazes me how multi generational he is. Oasis were THE band when I was in my 20s and yet the boys think they are so cool now. If you haven’t listened the album is great.
Read
Over Christmas I finished A Year Of Marvellous Ways by Sarah Winman. I loved this book all the way through and found the characters so engaging, but last chapter was so hard to read, I don’t think I could actually tell you exactly how it ends. I think I need to go back to it? This is maybe more due to what was going on around me and my concentration levels.
However, I then went on to read Wonder by R.J Palacio omg I read it in 5 days, and it takes me forever to read a book. It the most inspiring story about August a child with facial disfigurement, it had me laughing and crying all the way though. (I never cry at books)
I can’t wait to watch the movie now! Although god only know what state that will get me in if I cried at the book? But it’s not a sad story, it’s inspirational and focuses on bullies and bullying, but also human kindness and how kids do overcome it and can shine.
Wore
Mostly snuggly jumpers to keep warm. I am still on camera strike mostly, I need to get using my camera again, I think I have had so much on my mind that it has felt odd to wander around taking pictures. It has felt like the internet is the enemy lately and that has to change I am taking the internet back, and plan to use the camera much more next week. And make the internet my friend again!
Made
Lots of comfort food to make my little family smile, the focus has been very much on keeping cozy at home, enjoying family time and snuggling up watching movies.
Tried
A new MacBook case, I know I need to get out more ha ha. But actually I love it! As I frequently travel on trains, my lap top has to go with me to enable me to keep up on work. My previous case was very pretty but so unpractical, I cant tell you the amount of times I have had to wrestle my lap top out of the case and hit someone with the case or elbowed my neighbour on the train.
My shiny pretty new SPECK case simply clicks to my MacBook case thus offering protection but without the faff. Oh and lets not miss out the fact that I now have a shiny pink MacBook.
And I am so pleased to be able to offer one of my readers chance to get hold of on of these beauties too which come in a choice of colours and sizes to fit a MacBook.

Happy new year sarah all the best for 2018 great little post to start the year ,but I have to say I did not read the early holiday post haha it January blues I might read it about march ??? I hope you get whatsoever on your mind sorted But I’m sure you will x
My partner takes his Macbook to work with them and when we go away.
It would be nice to find a macbook case which fits perfectly. The last one I got just wasn’t a good fit at all.
I forgot to say I only travel with my MacBook when I really need to otherwise I use my iPad
tend to leave at home when I travel away
I mainly take it when working or visiting family and friends but leave it at home and take my iPad when travelling further afield.
No. I’m too scared of it getting broken or stolen.
Usually only at home
Just on the train so I can make use of the wifi!!
It is my son who has the macbook and he’s taken it to America and numerous places in Europe.
I take mine on holiday
I take mine on holiday with me
Oh Sarah I hope the cyber bullying is getting sorted, I am so sorry your family is having to go through this. I am also living in jumpers at the moment. The lap book case looks great and I love the colour very pretty. I hope this week is kind to you xx #LittleLoves
i always take mine when going on holiday
When i go on holiday or stay at a hotel
tend to leave at home when I travel away, but take it to work
I do hope the cyber bullying stops soon, sounds awful. Yes, you can put it in perspective as you have so many other lovely people in your life, but it’s still going to weigh on your mind and you’ll be anxious to sort it. I hope it goes away soon so you can all get back on track. In the meantime, family cozy time sounds perfect to me x Thanks for sharing with #WotW
Oh love the new case I need a new one so badly mine cracked. Looks so pretty styled here too. 🙂 Motivation for work I call it. Sounds like a busy week. Hope you had a great weekend. #littleloves
Only take it if I am going away in the UK
I always have to take my Mac to my elderly in laws to sort out their shopping order.
I usually keep it for use at home as I’m worried about losing it or breaking it when I’m out of the house!
I take it everywhere with me whether it’s local or abroad on a plane so this would be perfect to keep it safe! 🙂
OMG your pink Mac is to die for!
Sorry to hear you have been having a rough time lately, I hope the situation improves soon, always here if you need to talk x You definitely need to get your camera back out, I love your photography it inspired me to try a different style on my blog. Hope this week is much better for you x
I take mine on holiday with me so I can edit my photographs as I take them rather than waiting for a pile to do when I get back home.
I’m impressed with all your reading! And yes I take my Mac everywhere, from days in London to the edge of a volcano! 😉
I do! It’s a brilliant way to keep up with travel writing on the plane especially!
I haven’t got one, my grandaughter takes hers everywhere
Definitely go back to the Year of Marvellous Ways and re-read the ending. Sarah Winman’s books are ones that need a whole of time and concentration – something it’s hard to have as a busy mum though!
Hope you’re ok lovely xx
To the cafe is as far as we get together lol!!
I want to read A Year of Marvellous Ways, I loved When God Was A Rabbit. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been having a hard time – Little Loves always helps me to focus on the positives x
Lots! My MacBook is my office at home, in my home from home in Scotland. And every event I dj at!
Glad to hear that a bit of fresh air helped you to clear your mind and refocus on being positive, hard though that must be if you’re dealing with cyber bullying. Loving snuggly jumpers at this time of year too. That MacBook case is so pretty. I’ve occasionally been known to borrow my husband’s one but he could probably do with a decent case for it when he is taking it to and from events. Hope that this week has been a good one for you x #WotW
