It’s been a funny old week! Last weekend was spent trying to finally get over the awful cold! And thankfully I came through the weekend feeling so much better.
Monday morning I decided to brave the gym! I had booked spinning and was looking forward to it after a couple of weeks with very little exercise. But you know how it is when you bump into someone you know on the way to a class? I stopped for a minute and missed the door to my spinning class being locked, aargh! I decided to see if I could dip into another class and struck lucky with trx and kettle bells.
Have you ever done it? OMG, I am only just getting back to normal. And could not even walk up the stairs until Thursday having to crawl up and down. Of course no sympathy in the Christie household! Apparently it was self-inflicted. It seems I used muscles I have never used before and boy have I payed for it.
Did you see the George Michael documentary that he filmed before his death? I have adored the man since being 11. And still can’t believe he is dead? Wow what a beautiful soul he had. The documentary answered to many questions that really, he never had to explain. But also made a lot make sense. If you have ever been a fan watch it.
Ah and the last episode of Cold Feet, I just loved this series it was fab. I will miss watching it on a Friday evening.
My new VQ retro radio arrived this week, more on that Monday, with a chance to win one. I have got so used to working in silence but am loving having the radio on in the background whilst I work. It seems to help me to focus.
Not much this week I have been to tired and only managed a couple of pages a night. In blog world I read this fab post by The Family Voyage Blog about visiting Spain in the winter. Why do we not think of Spain as a winter place? I am now dreaming of Barcelona in the winter as I imagine it will feel so different and so magical with the winter lights on all of the works of Gaudi.
And also Morgana’s post on why I don’t post on Instagram at weekends, this really made me think about what I post although the boys have naturally become less of a focus on my blog due to their ages. And only want to conform when we travel. The rest of the time they are generally too busy! Weeps!
On Tuesday I hobbled into Liverpool to meet up with the lovely Colette, Jenny and Karen to take some photos, chat all things blogging and have afternoon tea to celebrate Karen’s 40th Birthday. We had a lovely afternoon and laughed till our faces hurt. We must look like total loons taking photos of each other in the middle of the street. But you know what? People are amazing aren’t they? And their reactions really make me smile as generally they smile in a supportive way.
I wore a black blazer and jeans so I felt smart but comfy, but remembered when I dug by blazer out I have just ordered another black one! Its arrived and is lovely so I not sending it back. But had completely forgotten I already had one.
We also had an amazing afternoon tea at a gorgeous cafe called Oh Me Oh My. It was delicious, I am much more of a savoury tooth but I did have a few cakes and wow! Which also left a lovely box full of cakes to bring home for the Christie boys.
I haven’t been that productive in the kitchen this week at all. But tonight is homemade pizza night; I am looking forward to lighting the log burner and getting cozy to ride out this storm. Although this weekend promises to be a busy one, we are getting together with friends and then are celebrating Jacks birthday at the weekend. He is 17 how did that come around so quickly?
I tried this delicious Albeforth’s Bathtub Gin, it still blows my mind how every gin I have tasted is completely different. Bathtub is spicy and citrus all at the same time. Its delicious and a definite must for the gin bar. And check out that bottle? How cute is that?
So that’s me, a busy weekend ahead full of celebrations. Have a wonderful weekend whatever you are up to and lets hope storm Brian isn’t too vicious! I wonder if we get another of those spooky skies like last week, how odd was that?
