We are home from Mark Warner Lakitira. And after a fab week the washing is all done and put away, ready for our next adventure.
We have had a fab time. Jack loving chilling in the sun and taking part in water sports. And Joe buzzing about resort with all of his new friends. I can’t wait to share more about it.
But I have a feeling it will be Jacks last family holiday for a while, whilst he did enjoy himself he missed his friends and girlfriend. We will watch this space and see what happens here but I have known it was coming for a while. I suppose on another note now he is on an apprenticeship he wont have as many holidays as us 3 so may choose to come once or twice during the year.
Watched and Heard
Jack and Joe learning to sail in Greece. The sound of the sea and watching our boys master a new skill. Sometimes with a glass of wine in hand! It doesn’t get better than that, does it? I did give it a try and was not great. However in my defence it was soooooo windy. I am going to give it another go when we revisited Mark Warner. And am sure we will as Joe had the time of his life and is already asking to go back. I might have been looking at holidays for next year already! Just to improve my sailing of course.
This lovely dress from Laura Ashley I had a little shop before out trip and love this floaty summer dress. I think that is one of my favourite parts of travel. Wearing dresses and sandals for a whole week.
Something I totally forgot to share last week (I blame the gorgeous sea and sun) are the results on my Ancestry DNA test. Omg I am gobsmacked, if this is something you haven’t done before then I thoroughly recommend it. The results have totally blown my mind.
Honestly I was soooooooooo shocked at my results. Which say I am 70% Western European; Primarily located in: Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein. 25% Irish, 4% British and 1% West Asian Primarily located in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey.
I made a little multi cultural afternoon tea to celebrate the results of my heritage DNA tests.
And had to include macarons and Black Forrest gateaux. This is so exciting on the travel front. It gives me all the more reason to explore Western Europe and Ireland. And who would have thought I would have only been 4% British. As our family trees dictate this is not the case. However the DNA results go back a couple of thousand years.
It just goes to show all the wars over race and religion and ideology are most probably unfounded. If DMA tests were compulsory I am sure a lot of people would get a bit of a shock.
Talking of race, I have just finished Small Great Things by Jodie Picoult on the recommendation of the lovely Hayely. It is such a thought-provoking book. At times it makes you gasp in shock and with an ending I honestly never expected. Not only could I not put it down, I was still pondering over it days after completing it. A wonderful, if not a bit of an uncomfortable at times. However I would thoroughly recommend it.
And Lastly I just have to mention the Bioderma sun cream we have been trying.
It was sent it as gift, but on a testing out basis as Joe gets allergies to lots of different child’s sun creams. To the point he looks burnt right across his face. I was chatting with the Bioderma experts at an event recently who told me the children’s Bioderma Photoderm factor 50 sun cream would be great for children who have allergies to sun cream.
Do you know this is the first holiday in 2 years his face has not burnt at all? It made such a huge difference, Joe was so much happier without a burnt face. I think more from the confidence angle as it looked quite red and sore.
I use the factor 50 face cream already and swear by it, its perfect for carrying in your bag and I take it everywhere. Or have all summer. It’s most definitely a product to have in your bag. And it lasts forever.
Time to get back to normal after an exciting summer, its been wonderful, manic at times scary after Joe’s accident! But another summer to remember. And apart from Joe’s new front teeth weeps!!!!! We came through the other end having had a great time.
Have a lovely week whatever you are up to
