The Countryside in Halkidiki Greece, My Sunday Photo

9th July 2017 by SarahJChristie 16 Comments

Recently I talked about visiting the village of Afitos in Halkidiki.

These photos were taken on the way between Sani Dunes and Afitos.  We were so lucky that out lovely driver allowed us to stop to see the sunflowers.

I just love sunflowers and standing at the edge of those fields the view was just breathtaking. Had I not been wearing sandals I would have waded in!

Our next stop was equally as beautiful and found us at the edge of a lavender field and the prettiest little church. It was a real gift being able to get out and see the real Greece. There is something about traveling and seeing such beautiful places that just makes you want to travel more, see more.

That church looks so typically Greek. the rest looks far too green to be Greece!

Those photos are so beautiful! For a fraction of a second I thought the yellow fields were like the rapeseed fields we have here. Then I realised they were something way more exciting! Whole fields of sunflowers! They must have been stunning to see up close.

Such pretty photos! The lovely thing about that part of Greece is that everything is so lush and green still, quite unlike more arid and dry regions the further south you go.
