My Weekly Round Up And Little Loves, Planning

29th July 2017 by SarahJChristie 11 Comments

This week had been all about planning for the future. We have been doing lots of clearing out the last couple of weeks. And oh my, the house feels so much bigger. Sometimes you just have to be ruthless and get rid of all those things you were saving for a rainy day.

Watched

We have watched Joe adapting to high school life. As he has been attending summer school at his new high school and has LOVED it. He chose the high school he is going to, based on the fact that he had grown up visiting as it was Jacks school and he felt comfortable there. We were pleasantly surprised at his choice as none of his best friends from school were going.

He has had the best week and, learnt to navigate around school whilst it is not full of bigger kids and made lots of friends. It’s such a great idea as he has finished the week so excited to get back there in September.

Heard

Jack saying how tired he is ha ha. He has only been working for 2 weeks and loves it. He has wanted to be an architect since he was little and was so lucky to get a place for the summer in an amazing local company. It’s so odd but wonderful seeing our little boy adapting and dressing for work life, he looks so smart.

Read

Well, I can’t even tell you the name of the book I am reading, And have been reading it for a week yet have no idea what is happening. Although I keep trying to persevere, I feel its time to give in. I am not engaging with the book at all. This never happens to me, there is usually something to hang on to but I just can’t get into it.

Made

It’s been a week pottering in the kitchen. And masking meringues with golden sugar, having never used golden sugar in baking before I had my doubts that the meringues would go white but they did. I also learnt that to get a pink swirl you just draw a line on the icing bag with the food colouring. How simple is that?

I also redid the pictures for my low sugar jelly sweets, it’s a popular post on my blog but I clicked on it this week and cringed that pictures were SOOOOOOOOOO bad. So I have given them a little update. I am not 100% happy as it went dark and started to rain by the time it set so the light is not quite right grrrrr. But they are a million times better. I shamed at the last lot.

Wore

We had a lovely long country walk last weekend. Some great friends of ours live a couple of villages away. It’s about an hour when you have Joe moaning he can no longer walk. Usually he is great, but last Saturday he wasn’t feeling the love for a walk and made that clear for the whole journey.

Anyhow I wore this lovely top from Florence and Fred it’s such a pretty summer top. It’s so light and comfy, perfect for summer days.

I love country walks, this area is just so breathtaking, and we are so lucky to live here. If you feel a bit grumpy a walk makes you feel so feel so much better.

Have a lovely week whatever you are up to x

Oh my goodness I’m so with you when it comes to the love of the Great British countryside and looking back on past photos. It goes to show that we are improving all the time I think. #WotW

That’s such a good idea for kids to get used to a new school without everyone else being there, so pleased Joe’s enjoyed it. It must be strange but also lovely seeing Jack dressed for work, good to hear that’s going well for him. I’d move onto a new book, or perhaps just skim and read the last chapter or two, as I hate it when they drag on like that. And now I want to clear out my house, I can feel a declutter coming on! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

Glad Joe enjoyed his week in high school and that Jack is enjoying working at a local company too. Those meringues look amazing. Love the look of your country walk too – what gorgeous views. #WotW

I am so glad he loved summer school and is raring to go in September. Katie goes to her summer school next week and I think it’s a brilliant thing for the school to do as part of transition. Eek I can’t imagine how crazy it is to see your baby heading off out to work all dressed up. Ah I love a good old declutter, soooo good for the soul x
