My Sunday Photo, The Pendle Pub Walk

24th June 2017 by SarahJChristie 18 Comments

Last weekend we took part in the Pendle Pub Walk. It is a local charity walk around our local villages, with all funds raised being donated to Pendleside Hospice.

The turnout is huge and increases every year. And for one day only all the sleepy Lancashire villages are packed and bustling. You can just feel that community spirit in the air, which is something that you want to bottle and keep. Especially with the way feelings have been lately. People pulling together for a great cause is just the best feeling ever.

We were so lucky that the sun was shining and it was hot but with a freeze in the air that made the 12 mile walk feel manageable. And we spend a day wandering between village pubs with our friends and children. There were some fairly hefty hikes in between. But it was worth it if only for the breathtaking views.

These are a few of my favourite shots from the day that I loved for so many reasons.Of course it has a serious side, and that is how cancer affects so many people we love. It’s a wicked and true disease and even if it’s a small thing for one family the collective effort of many local families goes towards funding a wonderful cause.
