I missed my round-up last week. I had planned to write it on the train on the way down to London. But the rail strike happened and I had to swap my relaxed train journey, as it was promising to be anything but relaxing and drive to London.
I don’t mind driving down occasionally, it gives me a bit of time to focus on nothing but the road and whatever is on the radio. It can almost feel relaxing. But it was one of those weekends when the odds are stacked against me. I was travelling down for Traverse an incredible inspirational travel bloggers event at the O2. We found out the day before the event that Klaxo apartments at Excel had cancelled our long-standing booking.
So there we were, 16 travel bloggers stranded with no accommodation. Thankfully the lovely Donna offered me a bed for the weekend. And everyone managed to get sorted. Then I got the email that part of my train journey was now a bus! No worries I will take the car. Then the M1 was shut which meant a de tour.
By the time I arrived at Donna’s I needed a glass of wine, but was so thankful that after all the hurdles I had arrived safely in London. However it was worth the effort as the event was wonderful, lots of inspirational travellers and a great group of bloggers.
Before the event Donna and I headed to Covent Garden for a drink and then High Tea at Cinnamon Bazaar. Next time you are in London check it out it is incredible. I had never tried an Indian inspired High Tea but it was delicious. From there we decided to walk to the first Traverse event. It may have taken a couple of hours, we were unable to walk a couple of feet without stopping to take pictures or a cocktail but I have some great shots to share.
On Saturday night we got to attend a party hosted by Cheap Flights and City Cruises. And if you love London you have to do this.
We got to cruise the Thames at sunset, the views were breathtaking. The cloud formation was just perfect to create the most wonderful backdrop. I am going to share some of my favourite pictures next Sunday but here is a sneaky peek.
After the most inspirational weekend I returned home tired and so happy to see all of the Christie boys and have a Bank Holiday chill, followed by a week of catching up. I love the excitement of my job but there is nothing like coming home.
Next week proves to be just as manic, but fun with another trip to London and Joe sitting his Sats. He is ready and prepared to do the best he can, I am glad to say feels quite calm about it all, and quite excited as School make a bit of an event of it. The Children get to go in early and enjoy breakfast together and a chill before the day. It makes it all feel like a bit of an adventure rather than stressful.
My gin of the week is this gorgeous Rock Rose Spring Edition Gin
I haven’t done a gin Friday in ages, I had got out of the routine if drinking gin and probably had a few more wines. But omg I have really noticed the weight creeping on. Ok I may have slipped in my eating habits too a little, cough, a lot. I actually had forgotten hoe much I love the flavours of the botanicals in gin. And the Rock Rose did not disappoint, I have loved all editions so far. This is a little more zingy with hints of liquorice and lime, it has a very refreshing flavour.
And lastly I have been trying out a new skin care range lately
Is it just me that finds a skin care range, falls in love with it but after a year feels it’s not doing what it used too. Almost like my skin has got used to it. Well that is how I was feeling with my current range. So I have been trying out the Institute Esthederm Osmoclean Hydra Replenishing Cleansing Milk and The Lift and Repair Smoothing Cream in the search of something new.
Sad times people, but a cream for fine lines is absolutely needed. And I love them, especially the Lift and Repair cream. It was definitely the pick me up my skin needed and is feeling smoother and brighter. It’s funny how changing your product range can make such a difference.
I had got into a habit of using the same thing, but sometimes you just need to have a change.
Have a fab weekend whatever you are up and lets hope the sun shines.
