Cooking Up A Storm With The Very Exciting Hello Fresh Go

Yesterday I enjoyed a wonderful day in London. You know the kind of day when the sun is shinning. Everyone is smiling and London feels a great place to be.

If I am truly honest I know it seems I have turned into a country girl. But that is only because I get my regular London fix. Without this I would be itching to move back to a city. However there is a lot to be said for having the best of both worlds and that is exactly what I have.

Yesterday was all about food as I got to visit and see behind the scenes at Hello Fresh HQ. I know Chris would be reading this rolling his eyes and saying every day for me is all about food. And he wouldn’t be wrong. I always like to know where my next meal is coming from. And love exciting food, I am not a real fan of takeaways’. Most definitely and advocate of quality and freshness over convenience any day of the week.

But that was because I never knew you could have it all in the home cooked food department.

And having a teen with type 1 diabetes means I have to know what is in our food. It is vital that I know the exact amount of carbs in every portion. There cannot be any hidden ingredients or sugars because a secret ingredient or spoonful of sugar here and there can cause carnage on sugar levels. And as a result also my stress levels.

A visit to the Hello Fresh HQ was exactly what I needed. And OMG if you are looking for the coolest place to work in London then look no further. As soon as you enter the Hello Fresh HQ you can just feel the cool vibe.  It is chilled but professional and the décor is inspired. Patrick head chef at Hello Fresh is passionate about sustainability and waste and this reflects in the whole ethos of the business.

The Christie boys are going to go wild; they have been asking if we can get a container in the garden for ages. Yes, a real container?

I have not taken this request that seriously, but actually? Hello Fresh have the coolest one ever with a roof terrace and I am now thinking this could be an option. Who wants a run of the mill garden room when you could have a funky container? And how many do you expect to find in an office in central London.

Anyhow again I digress!

Hello Fresh invited us to try out their new and exciting Hello Fresh GO Range. This is slightly different to the current model of Hello Fresh. And is currently hitting the shelves of Sainsbury’s stores around the UK as we speak.

Go is the ultimate healthy take away that you get to cook. I don’t know about you but cooking a meal with a great glass of wine is part of the fun. The rubbish bit is planning and shopping. With “Go” you can just nip to Sainsbury’s, pick up a meal and it is all in the recipe bag planned measured and ready to go.

Our job was to put Go thought its paces and I was cooking Teriyaki Chicken. A dish I had never cooked before but with all the ingredients in front of me all weighed and ready it was quick and easy.

The recipe takes 20 minutes to prepare, but with my faffing and taking of photos I may have gone over by 10 minutes. But hey I wanted to get some lovely pic’s so it was worth going over. The atmosphere was great with all 5 of us bloggers involved cooking different dishes, to contribute towards a banquet.

And that was the great thing, once dished up we enjoyed tasting all of the meals, in great company and good wine as we chatted over our experience. All meals tasted delicious and with Hello Fresh aiming to rotate the range every six weeks, offering a new meal or 2 to the offering you could never get bored.

This has really sold the take out cook in option for me, the food quality was great and the portion size was filling.  I can’t wait to try more recipes from this exciting range. Hello Fresh Go takes the thinking out of cooking and makes it fun again and I for one think it is a fab way of having best of both worlds.

  1. Ooh I might check these out in Sainsbury’s. I’m so rubbish at juggling work and kids and home and we end up having takeaway at least once or twice a week. If I can replace at least one with something like this then I’m winning!

  2. I saw these mentioned in a magazine this week but I have never seen them in my local Sainsbury’s and I’ve just looked online and they don’t seem to be available there either. There is not even any mention of them on the Hello Fresh website. 🙁 Is this one of those ‘only available down south’ things again?

    • Do you know I have just checked and they aren’t in our Sainsburys either grr, they are so handy to just grab too although the I did make the Teriyaki chicken last week as the recipe is on the Sainsburys website, although I know that does not answer your question. I have tried the weekly box lately and I have to say that was very good.
