My Captured Moment, Me and Mine May 2016, Chateau Ratilly

9th June 2016 by SarahJChristie 20 Comments

As we pulled up outside Chateau De Ratilly last week, the first of our castle visits there was only one word wow. Seriously this Chateau is the place of dreams, like something out of a Disney film.

I knew immediately this was where we would capture May’s Me and Mine photos, but in true Christie tradition Jack was not in the mood for a family photo, however this was the last day off the month so it had to be today. Persistence paid off and I got my tripod out of the car to get set up. All the while, Jack huffing and puffing and moaning at how embarrassing I was ha ha.

I am not quite sure what he was embarrassed about, it was deserted, there had just been the most terrible rain shower and the castle entrance for quiet, anyhow, I got them all lined up desperate to get my shots in this most stunning location before the rain returned.

At this stage I have to say I was feeling a bit giddy, I could not wait to get into theChateau. Fortunately the rain stayed away long enough. Its funny but as much as Jack moans about doing stuff like this he soon cheers up once we all start piling together, and trying to huddle in to get the shot. I think its more the thought of it sometimes.

As I look back at these photos they remind me what an incredible week we had, the beautiful people we met. To be honest every time I think back to our time in France I feel a bit emotional it really was that special. Burgundy is a place of which I will always carry a tiny bit of in my heart. And most definitely a somewhere we will re-visit. We visited during what I can only describe as biblical weather, the worse rain the region has seen in May for 100 years, and yet we still fell in love with it. You can’t not.

And as we walked up the path towards Chateau De Ratilly I was happy that I could relax I had my little family shot of us all in France. On Sunday I will share the rest of my photos from the Castle because wow this is one very beautiful Chateau.

Hi Sarah, what a magnificent looking place to visit. I half expect to see a ghostly figure in the back ground. And I think the weather adds a little something to the photos, if it was bright and sunny it wouldn’t have looked so atmospheric. My lot are past cajoling into family photos, it’s like a sad circus act!

That looks like a stunning place to go 🙂 I think kids have a habit of saying their parents are embarrassing when they get to a certain age! Mine does it at aged 9!! Lovely photos x

I think huffs and puffs come with the teen territory, but at least you are blessed with a smile at the end. I just get a scowl from mine lol. The chateau really does look like a Disney castle, and looking forward to seeing more pictures of it. Beautiful shots as always Sarah x

Sarah this castle looks amazing and totally suitable for any Disney princess. Poppy’s always the same with us, not wanting her picture taken, she drives me mad!

Well done on getting your family portrait done – just in time too.

Thank you so much for linking up to #MyCapturedMoment xxx
