Creating A Garden Chill Space With TK MAXX

29th June 2016 by SarahJChristie 33 Comments

This feels like the year we may finally finish our garden. As last week I was busy creating a garden chill space of my very own. We have been saying that for years, but there always seems to be more to do. More plants and flowers to plant or move.

And you ask yourself, will it ever end? And then just as we feel we are getting somewhere, winter rolls in, and we have to shelve our plans for another year.

The garden was the reason we fell in love with our home.  It was both exciting and daunting to take on such a project. When we moved in our home we thought it was a blank canvas, we were so naive. We had no idea how much it would cost to move a shed of that size, or lower the huge decked area. But there is now light at the end of the tunnel, we are getting to spend time chilling in the garden. We are able to look out of the window and smile at how pretty it looks.

I have to admit here and now, that the extent of my gardening expertise is buying plants that look great and lining them up, in the hope that someone to plant them! If I had to maintain the garden, we would be living in a Victorian terrace property, with a shingled yard.

However what I can do is shop, and luckily for me that is where we are at right now. The garden is ready to fill with furniture, and create places to chill in the sun. Part of our vision was to create a family chill area, and the perfect place to chill with friends. And lastly, somewhere just for me, a sunny retreat away from the noise of Saturday afternoon football. A place to enjoy a morning coffee, whilst listening to the birds sing.

Last week on my mission for such an area, I headed off to TK MAXX looking for something and little different, something a bit quirky. And true to expectations I found exactly what I was looking for. I was able to buy everything I needed to kit out my little area perfectly.

I almost squealed with excitement when I saw this blue chair, the perfect place to lie and think of nothing in particular. Life is so full of chaos isn’t it?  To have a space to just chill, away from the football, and discussions on tactics is essential.

In our house football is not just for the Euros or World Cup. It is for every blooming match ever played, Burnley matches get played twice. I kid you not. And let me ask you this? Why have a season ticket and then come home and watch the match? The logic behind that escapes me completely.

Anyhow, now I have my little area, equipped with scented flowers to attract the bees. There is nothing like the sound of bees as you are sat with you eyes shut,  with the heat of the sun of your face.

I have a blanket, chiminea and scented candles ready for when the sun goes down. And a Pimm’s jug,  perfect for iced water on school days, but on a hot Sunday afternoon, will be strictly for ice-cold Pimm’s.

Lovely. There’s a green patio set at our local TK Maxx that I’ve had my eye on. However, our garden focus at the moment is a play area with fairy garden x

I LOVE that chair Sarah and what an amazing place to chill out away from the football. Good to see Toby getting to join you though. We purchased new garden furniture in May and I swear it has rained ever since. I think we have sat on it for a total of 2 hours, ah just want some sun to enjoy a nice cold drink of an evening x

That chair is gorgeous – it’s got a feeling of Adirondack about it, and such a gorgeous colour. Let’s hope the sun plays ball (possibly not football) so you won’t be too chilly out there x #homeetc

I love it, Sarah!! The chair is gorgeous. The colour is so nice. We’re almost getting there with our garden. As we bought a new build, the garden was non existent. Slowly but surely, it’s looking a little more established but not in your league x
