A Post Card From Guedelon

31st May 2016 by SarahJChristie 6 Comments

Day 2 of our trip found us at Guedelon Chateau Fort and wow what an incredible place. I have so much to share about this most wonderful piece of working history.

In short Guedelon is a Chateau being built from scratch with medieval techniques. The attention to detail and work that goes into maintaining the traditional working methods is unbelievable.

I can honestly say we were fully engaged for the whole duration of our visit. Hein our guide, Valerie, Sarah and the rest of  the management team are so very passionate about the whole project which really enhanced the trip, the boys listened to every word, every tale Hein told us, and learnt so very much.

The great thing about today is that we got to enjoy the trip with the beautiful Ting and the rest of the My Travel Monkey Family, a wonderful place with fantastic company and then return to Domaine de Varenne for a delicious dinner. It really has been an incredible day, doing something new and so very interesting.

We are moving on tomorrow and will be so sad to leave, but also excited about the next stage of our trip. And yes the rain has been relentless, but do you know what? It just has not mattered.  We came prepared and are having a fabulous time, we are enjoying lots of new and exciting experiences and meeting some truly wonderful people. And I can’t wait to share more.

Love all the pictures Sarah and how lovely to spend the day with Ting and her family. You certainly sound as if you are having an interesting trip. And who cares about the rain, we live in the North West of England lol x

Exactly Tracey we are used to the rain ha ha, our hosts all kept apologising for the rain and saying they could not believe our positivity about the weather, but we are just used to it! And it never affected our trip at all x
