Flowers And Sunshine, My Sunday Photo

8th May 2016 by SarahJChristie 36 Comments

I have chosen flowers this week for my Sunday photo. Flowers and Sunshine has really been the theme of the week.

Flowers And Sunshine, My Sunday Photo

Hasn’t the weather been gorgeous?  At last we are enjoying the sun and I so hope it stays around until the end of September, wouldn’t that be amazing.

This week I was brave and bought Gerber’s, they usually wilt within a couple of days, I have never been able to keep them looking fresh. But after my recent tulip success I decided to give them another go, and hoorah if you change the water every day they live so much longer. I also gave the stems a trim midweek, and after a week they are still going strong. They are such beautiful flowers aren’t they? I think quite possibly my favourite.

I talked yesterday about how much I learnt at Blog On MSI and used some of the inspiration I came away with when photographing these gorgeous Gerber’s. The detail is incredible close up, isn’t nature amazing.

These photos just show the difference light can make too, I took the last 2 in the garden in the afternoon, and the colour appears so much pinker and brighter, yet in reality they are much more like the delicate pinky, peach shade to the naked eye.

Fantastic colours – and, yes, the improved weather has been wonderful. Let’s hope it lasts, but I’m definitely going to enjoy it while I can in case it doesn’t. Hopefully this year we will have a proper summer rather than just a couple of nice weeks in June. Fingers crossed.

Both the flowers and your photos are beautiful. I love the delicate pink colour of inside flowers, it’s amazing the difference in colour when you took them outside.

They are gorgeous photos and I never knew that’s how to keep gerberas alive for longer. My green fingered gardener told me to put a bit of sugar in the vase and that works really well too!

    Beautiful.
    Gerbera’s are my favourite flower.
If I have them amongst bunches I tend to use a bit of very fine floral/craft wire just to steady them, works a treat 🙂
