Ikos Oceania Greece, With Kids And Teens

Booking an all-inclusive-family holiday is a huge responsibility. The older your children get, the more they think about how and where you travel. This is what our teenage boys loved about Ikos Resorts. We have stayed at Ikos Oceania, Greece, several times.

Ikos Oceania Greece, With Kids And Teens

Over the years, this lucky pair have had some incredible family holidays.  We have tried to keep them busy and active with tours, adventures, kids’ sporting activities and sometimes kids’ clubs. As a family, we have booked holidays that require stamina with lots of sports. Because that is what motivates these two, keeping busy, so convincing them they would love Ikos Oceania Greece was difficult.

Kids And Teens Actually Learn To Relax At Ikos Oceania

We rarely do relaxing or beach holidays; in my mind, I had to keep them busy. However, staying at Ikos Resorts in Greece has slightly turned that theory on its head. As for me, this was the most relaxing, beautiful and luxurious family resort.

Yet, for the boys, Ikos Oceania In Greece also offers a balance of exciting sporting activities. It’s a place to meet friends and where they learnt to chill a little too. It is the perfect Greek resort for a luxury family holiday.

It is about balance; if a resort advertises itself as a super fun family resort, I will run for the hills, but this is not my bag.

Ikos Resorts Do Families With Kids And Teens In Style

Ikos Oceania Greece offers family activities to bring the best out in kids, and lots of this for our two was geared around sports. Jack was most concerned about visiting a relaxing resort; relaxing seems complicated when you are a teen, but he can sleep all day. Yes, once he got into the swing of the trip, he bought into the Ikos way of life.

The Wifi At Ikos Oceania Is Great

When we arrived, Jack found the Wi-Fi was better at Ikos Oceania than home; he was fine. He happily got onto social media to inform his fellow teens that he would not be dropping off the face of the earth for a week. Thus meaning he was happy and content. This helped him to settle in and enjoy the trip.

Deluxe Collection Rooms Have Xbox’s In The Deluxe Rooms

If you stay in the deluxe collection rooms at Ikos Oceania, you can order an Xbox to your room for use during your stay.

So hoorah, Jack’s part in FIFA’s pretend world was secure. He could still defend his FIFA status from Ikos Oceania whilst we were getting ready for dinner each evening. The teens were happy.

Joe Instantly Fell In Love With The Pools At Ikos Oceania Greece

As I mentioned in my last post, the space around the pools was incredible—no sardines or reserving sunbeds at Ikos Resorts in Greece. There are so many beds and pools at this luxury all-inclusive resort compared to the site size.

Not only does this give a luxurious feel, there is plenty of space for kids to enjoy the pools. Including the deluxe collection, the boys had a choice of 3 pools.

As a result, we moved around throughout the day, depending on what was going on in what pool.

Sports Activities At Ikos Oceania For Kids And Teens.

A beautiful sports programme for kids and teens is organised by the team at Ikos Oceania.

While we were staying, there were daily beach volleyball, pool volleyball, and football games. Both boys got involved at some point during our stay, but Joe set his day by the kid’s sports activities available.

It was beautiful and being supervised by a fantastic team, which involved adults and kids alike, the atmosphere was always warm and friendly. Hats off to the Ikos team, as they knew how to make these sessions challenging for adults and teens yet were kind to the smaller kids.

Daily volley ball round the pool

You could also play tennis and hire bikes. The sports facilities at Ikos Oceania Greece are excellent, with a full all-weather pitch/tennis courts to play on. In the summer months, Ikos also offer a football/tennis academy in the sun.

The luxury all-inclusive food was a real success too! When travelling with kids, it is so easy to sometimes go with the easy option. But at Ikos Resorts, the boys went out of their comfort zones and tried many new and exciting a la carte dishes; they came away having extended their palates.  The dining is exceptional, and it was great to see the boys explore the menus and love the excellent food as much as we did.

Is There A Kids Club At Ikos Oceania?

Joe didn’t have time for this! However, it was well geared for younger children. There is also a park he did venture to with his friends on one or two occasions, a mini area on the beach which a qualified Nanny operated, and a movie theatre with comfy sofas that shows family movies in the evenings.

There Is A Water-Sports Area On The Beach

The boys loved the fab water sports area on the beach, where you can try out windsurfing, canoeing, pedalos and paddle boarding. (one activity a day as part of the all-inclusive package)

You can also book an introductory scuba diving lesson. Chris and Jack loved this. You can book a course at an extra cost, which is on the plan for our next visit.

I could go on; the boys adored Ikos Oceania.  It is the perfect location in Greece for sporty families. So much so that the boys have asked us to boycott our plans to visit Florida next year, as they are desperate to revisit Ikos Resort.

And do you know what? That is precisely what we will do. Not often everybody comes home from a family holiday 100% happy, but this was indeed the case with Ikos Oceania, the ultimate luxury all-inclusive resort in Greece. 1. I enjoyed reading this post because your boys are older than my girls and I keep hearing how much family vacations can change the older the kids get (obviously). But it’s not something I always think about…I can imagine how much planning and brainstorming goes into a vaca with older kids and not wanting them to be bored. Sounds like you hit the nail on the head with this one! #mondayescapes

  2. I can totally get there – at the moment, Monkey has no choice but as he gets older, his opinions will matter just as much! Ikos looks like the perfect mix – and boys will be boys – most love the outdoors. The resort looks brilliant… really does. Thanks for linking up with #MondayEscapes

  3. Hi Sarah,

Will my sports mad boys (11) and (13) genuinely be kept busy all day with the land and water sports on offer and will they daily make friends of their own age during the day? Even after all the great reviews I’m still worried that Oceana will be very quiet for tweens compared to somewhere like Beaches Negril Jamaica but really want to go due to the all round quality offered for all the family!

    • Hi Simon there are not the same facilities as there are at Beaches Resorts, we have been to Turks and Caicos, however we love Ikos Resorts and since our trip some of our friends have become regular visitors too. If you go after May there is a full programme for kids and teens. Before then the teen club is not open, we have been twice at Easter once to Oceania and Once to Olivia and our boys have not stopped despite there being no club. I think if you want to give them a little freedom Olivia is perfect. We love Oceania and have booked for my husband and I for a 25th anniversary get away this year. However Olivia is flatter the sports facilities are larger and better located with tennis, football and volleyball courts, ( They are outside the front of the Hotel at Oceania so we felt we had to be there if they wanted to play if there was not a member of staff there) if you stay in the deluxe rooms, Which are worth every penny as the pool is so quiet and if you can get a pool side room you have a garden stepping onto the pool, they are steps from the sports courts. We were able to sit round the deluxe pool as our boys and my husband nipped back and forth to the sports court and as Olivia is flat you can also hire bikes for family bike rides. The quality of food and wine is outstanding and I am so fussy, although it is quieter at night than Beaches and focus around family time and fine dining. We took cards and uno, but plan your meals for later at night and spend longer round the pool, beach. The water sports are free and you can have half an hour on every apparatus once a day there are canoes, paddle boards, pedaloes, plus you can do scuba diving intro and sailing once a week and the motorised sofa is an extra cost. There was also a programme of games such a pool volleyball and beach volley ball. For me Oceania is my favourite, but for our boys its hands down Olivia, and if I am honest they layout is better for families with tweens I felt a lot more relaxed allowing our then 12 year old to go to the sports court for a planned game. Also the spa is incredible take you gym gear if you like the gym and classes as its included and the morning yoga is wonderful. Hope that helps?
