This week has been all about catching up, you know the feeling returning form a holiday and having a mountain of washing to do. Dozens of emails to reply to, tons of posts to write and photos to edit. A great place to be in, but wow working from home with kids is hard. I found myself getting up early to make the most of the peace, make myself breakfast and work while they were asleep. It did work quite well, and meant I had the rest of the day free for them.
And check out my gorgeous new coaster from Coconut Grass its such a unique online shop I love it. I also have a W for wine!
Joe and I have had some wonderful afternoons, this week as a result, there has been the odd day I have had to work on longer, but it’s not easy with Joe constantly chatting.
We tried out my gorgeous new mixer and baked cupcakes, and they were delicious and so light and fluffy, I can’t believe the difference using a full powered mixer has made to the consistency of my cup cakes, they were delicious, I will share a recipe next week, but I just love it.
And hasn’t this weather been just beautiful, Joe and I have spent hours in the garden, he is a real outdoors kid and as soon as the sun is shining, spends hours outside climbing and playing football. We also fit in a few long walks in he field with Toby and walks to the ice cream shop, which are a must on a hot sunny day.
Last week my photo challenge was my everyday routine. I don’t think I have set the world on fire with my pics, but they do reflect our week really well. I suppose it’s what I do on Instagram all the time, but has made me more aware of my surroundings. I think the more aware of photography you become the fussier you become about your photos grrr. I am so aware now that I don’t always get it right, was it better when I was blissfully unaware?
My challenge for next week is feet, I am fascinated by feet photos so this week I am going to try to reflect our personalities through our feet. God only knows how this will go, wish me luck.
I also caught this gorgeous sunset, which is not strictly part of my routine, but how stunning is it? And as it made me stop what I was doing and run for a camera I decided it sort of qualified.
And lastly, I was so pleased, well a little more than pleased arghhh, to find out my blog has made it to the final of the MAD blog awards in the School Days category.
I am so thrilled. Getting to the final feels like such an achievement so I am feeling a bit giddy about it, but there are some amazing blogs in my category, all worthy winners. So it is all down to the public vote now and what will be will be, but I am so looking forward to the award ceremony later in the year and celebrating with all of them.
I hate playing catch up after a holiday, we just moved house and I’m so behind. I think I might need to try your trick of getting up early to get things done without any distractions
