A Morning Walk On The Beach In Greece

17th April 2016 by SarahJChristie 45 Comments

There is nothing more magical than waking on an un-spoilt beach.  And that is why I set my alarm for 7am every day last week for a morning walk on the beach. Yes, I could have had lovely long holiday lie inns. But there is something special about enjoying early mornings on deserted beaches.

Greece and the very beautiful Ikos Oceania did not disappoint, I enjoyed several luxurious walks along the beach.  The sand untouched for possibly the only time that day, my footsteps being the very first to touch the sand.

Walking along enjoying the warm of the sun starting to peek through the clouds, as the beach attendants prepare the beach for the day, before the games of volleyball, or the pedalos and canoes venture out to sea. The only sound being the sea gently lapping back and forth from the beach.

The one thing that I loved so early in morning is the beautiful pink haze on the horizon that hid the snow-topped mountains in the distance, which only appear in the afternoon and disappear again before morning.

Once I had experienced this joyous walk on my first morning I jumped out of bed when my alarm sounded every morning after that, excited to get down to the deserted beach and enjoy my long morning walk.

Looks wonderful, and you’re so right – whether it is a golden beach or a city square or another site, there’s nothing quite like having a spot to yourself. I love the photo of the footprints in the sand.

I miss being near the sea/beaches so much – what a great collection of pictures, makes me feel like I can feel the sand between my toes!

There is something very special about being up early in the morning. For me it is a farm walk that if I lived by the beach I’m sure that is where I would head. This must be much warmer with you looking at the bare toes in the sand .

Hi Sarah, so glad you had nice weather. In the summer me and my daughter like to get down the beach really early for a run, there is something special about a beach first thing, special enough to up early for.

I can imagine it was so beautiful at that time in the morning and well done for getting out of bed so early on holiday. Those beds were just the comfiest beds ever. Love the picture of your footprints in the sand. I meant to bring some of the sand back in a bottle but we forgot. But that means we have to go back lol x

Love those single footprints. But I know what you mean about getting out there early for a walk. I love to be out and about early rather than being there when all the crowds turn up.

i absolutely love solitary walks on the beach – well hubby can come too:) it looks lovely. nothing nicer than a walk on a pristine beach- tho it does look a bit gravelly there. i guess i am used to golden sands here in Oz. 🙂
