Last Friday we did something we don’t do enough, we collected the boys from school and headed into Manchester for a late lunch at Jamie’s Italian. Jamie’s Italian is situated on King Street, the perfect spot for some Friday shopping and a late lunch/early dinner.
The restaurant is situated in an old bank and if there was ever a building to get giddy about it’s this one, it is stunning. The design of the restaurant has been sympathetic of the heritage of 100 King Street and maintained many of the original features, including many framed shots of the bank in its previous life.
It would have been so easy to go in and start from scratch but to work with the original features was just genius and really makes Jamie’s Italian an environment that feels special.
Every aspect of our service from the way we were greeted as we entered, to the service offered by Rachael our extremely friendly and patient hostess was exceptional. The team is friendly and helpful and the whole vibe of Jamie’s Italian is cool.
The beauty of eating at 5pm is you have the option of the lunch and dinner menu, and the Super Lunch menu, which offers 2 courses for £12.95 or 3 for £14.95, which in my opinion is exceptional value and offers a great variety of choices.
We all chose different dishes, which was perfect to give us a good view of how great the food is at Jamie’s Italian. I ordered the pate, followed by pasta, which was so tasty, in fact all of our dishes were delicious and Rachael ensured our drinks were kept topped up as we dined.
The relaxed vibe is wonderful and unlike some restaurants we never once felt rushed but were able to chill out and chat over our dinner and between courses, without feeling rushed. Of course there was lots of eye rolling from the boys as I took my time photographing their food.
When I say this building is cool I mean seriously cool, and one thing I would like to do in the future is dine in the vault. The original bank vault has been converted to the most incredible private dining room, which must be the most wonderful environment to enjoy a meal with family or a group of good friends.
Would I add Jamie’s Italian to my list of must visit places in Manchester? Absolutely, and I can’t wait for the next girls weekend trip to Manchester, so we can sit in the gorgeous bar and sip cocktails before a fabulous dinner.
