Our Lodge at Q Lodges, Belton Woods Grantham

From the minute you drive into the gates of Belton Woods you know it is something special.

Situated just outside of Grantham Town and on the edge of the glorious Lincolnshire countryside this is the perfect location for a UK family lodge break. Grantham is a town we have visited regularly over the years, yet we have never been to Belton Woods. Trust me I won’t be staying anywhere else when we visit Grantham now, we loved it.

It is set on a sprawling golf estate with stunning views as far as the eyes can see, and so much to do to keep the family busy for the entirety of your stay.

When staying at Belton Woods you have the option of staying in the hotel or the lodges, both are options we would consider for the future, the length of stay would dictate our choice. But the promise of staying in a lodge could just persuade us to extend a stay, and spend a long weekend living the lodge life.

From the moment you enter the lodge at Belton Woods you know the quality is going to be exceptional

Q Lodges really have thought of everything to make your stay luxurious and comfortable. I would say these lodges are more special than the average holiday lodge, and are cleaned to such an extent that the lodge feels brand new.

I honestly believed when we stayed at Slaley Hall that the lodge was newly refurbished, and we were the first to stay. But it came apparent at Belton Woods that the standard is so very high that every lodge feels like this.

The lodges have everything you could possibly need to feel you are at home, from a well equipped kitchen to a wireless docking station for your music, and of course the obligatory WiFi that no trip with a teen is complete without.

Unfortunately we arrived late at night in torrential rain, not the best conditions for taking photos, so I am not sure my photos will fully do the lodge justice.

But anyone that travels with kids knows they spread out, make themselves comfy. So the opportunity to get photos is the tiniest window when you scoot around, trying to capture what you can before you open the floodgate to iPods, iPads, build a bears and all the other paraphernalia that comes with traveling with kids.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom lodge,

It was an upside down design with sleeping accommodation on the ground floor and living on the first. Thus maximizing on the views from the first floor lounge and huge balcony.

The master bedroom has a bathroom with spa bath and shower, whilst the second bedroom also had an en-suite bathroom.

The master bathroom on the first floor has the added feature of a sauna, perfect for chilling and near to the lounge that you can relax that the kids are happy as you enjoy the tranquility of the sauna.

The living area is open plan with a dining area, huge lounge and kitchen with lots of seating and plenty of space to spread out and chill.

For us a family this is huge, as lodge breaks for us are as much about having a family night in with no distractions of washing machines, Xboxes etc, where we can chill and enjoy each other’s company. As much as they are also a great opportunity to get out for gorgeous meals, in beautiful locations.

However should you wish to wash clothes there is a washer dryer available in the lodge, but sometimes its great to not have to be constantly checking the dryer isn’t it? It drives me mad at home all I do is wash clothes, so it’s nice to have a break when away.

But also when traveling with kids, its nice to have the option. Just for that deep puddle that Joe will most probably fall into at some stage. Because it has to be said, our youngest is a mud magnet.

Should you want to bring extra guests to Belton Woods the lounge in your lodge also has a double bed that is cleverly disguised in a pull down cabinet.

If you like lodge holidays but crave that little bit of extra luxury I cannot recommend Belton Woods enough, its location is breathtaking with wonderful views and lots of on site activities, meal options and beautiful walks. And because the site it not packed it is a chilled environment, with lots to do but without that crowded feeling.

Staying at Q Lodges has really made us evaluate how we spend lodge holidays in the UK, and we most definitely prefer the more laid back luxury vibe of Q Lodges, and it firmly has the seal of approval from the Christie boys who just love everything about Q Lodges and what they have to offer the family.

Bob in later in the week when I will sharing all the on site activities and dining options are available at Belton Woods, and check out our little lodge vlog below.

  1. Ooooh your lodge looks very luxurious! Love the living area and it looks like they’ve been furnished to a very high standard.

I like staying in lodges (esp if they have a hot tub!) as you get lots of space and flexibility.
