The Cambridge Belfry, Q Hop Day 2

29th February 2016 by SarahJChristie 6 Comments

The Cambridge Belfry is located in Cambourne, which is 10-15 minutes outside Cambridge.  A great location for visiting the City, yet far enough out to feel like a peaceful retreat. It is also a great location to stop off for a pit stop when on a long journey.

It is very much a spa and conference hotel, with beautiful facilities, yet welcomes families with open arms. The Cambridge Belfry feels luxurious from the moment you enter the hotel with its gorgeous white open reception area, plush furniture and super friendly staff.

Once we had checked in to our room, which was beautiful.  It was a 1-bedroom suite, with a lounge area that had been converted to a bedroom for the boys. There were treats such as hot chocolates and marshmallows and a board game to occupy to boys during their stay, much to their delight.

We had arrived quite late as we had hung around Forest Pines until late in the day; the plan was to nip into Cambridge. But the boys wanted to chill and Joe was desperate for a game of Ludo, which I must say he spent some time studying before allowing the rest of the family to play, hmmm.

I think the fact that the boys just loved our suite dictated that we spend the next couple of hours chilling, and as the spa bath was so huge I felt it rude not to test it out and enjoyed a long soak with a glass of wine and magazine. Blooming amazing that you have to visit a hotel to get a long bath isn’t it? But when you are at home there is always somewhere to be!

However the fact that the Christie boys were chilling in their room and Chris was snoozing on the super comfy bed meant that I had peace and quiet, to chill and get ready for dinner at leisure.

Once ready we headed down to the lounge, which is so cozy, it is made up of lots of little areas almost giving it the feeling of a West End gentlemen’s club that you could imagine Sherlock Holmes frequenting. It really is stylish yet cool, and because of the layout it feel cozy and intimate. We were able to relax with the boys as Joe put his pre practiced Ludo technique to the test. The staff were attentive and although we were sat out-of-the-way ensured we were offered top ups, and the food menu.

We plan to visit the Cambridge Belfry again in the summer, firstly to visit Cambridge. I am so glad we chilled as we did, it has been a busy term and we all desperately needed the time to chill as a family, and to try out that beautiful spa. Darren and his team made us very welcome and feel totally at home, perfect for family chill time.

Sounds so relaxing Sarah, I absolutely love Cambridge but there is so much to see it would have been a abusy day for you all. Much nicer to take your time and chill out at the hotel instead, looks so cosy I’m not surprised you didn’t want to leave! xx

Looks perfect for a getaway, love that the kids had a separate area to sleep which is something I am looking for more these days as my son gets older and is able to fend for himself when he wakes early in the morning.

The Cambridge Belfry looks like just the type of hotel we’d love to stay in. A suite… lots of comfy room!! We’ve not really explored Cambridge so we will definitely earmark this. Great post #MondayEscapes
